Duties :
●Perform daily crash cart check, check dates on contrast and supplies; biopsy guns, stents, needles, drainage tubing, biopsy trays etc.
●Daily quality control checks on diagnostic equipment; scanner, I-stat machine, Med Rad IV pump while performing specialized axial and helical protocols as requested.
●Introduce Radiologic contrast to patients after ordering and checking appropriate labs to determine the necessary protocols.
●Check for proper identification/allergies, monitor patients on telemetry pump and heart monitor during conscious sedation.
●Report any irregularities, scheduling cancellations, or incidents that may occur with patients, interact daily with patients to schedule and expedite exams.
●Assist physicians with sterile procedures such as lung, kidney, liver biopsies and RF ablations.
●Assist team of physicians and nurses and as the radiographic member, performs peripheral vascular procedures, cerebral angiography, and venograms.
●Schedules and receives patients, explains procedures, positions patients, sets up and with supervision operates accessory equipment required for examinations.
●Performs neuroangiography, including spine, head and neck studies utilizing highly sophisticated x-ray equipment such as computerized fluoroscopy, pressure injectors, rotational angiography, flat panel CT with 3D reconstructions, patient monitoring, etc.
●Performs peripheral and visceral angiography of the abdominal systems and extremities. These angiographic studies include renal, hepatic, mesenteric, aortic, femoral, etc.
●Sets up ultrasound equipment, mechanical thrombolysis systems, radiofrequency ablation systems, lasers, and cryoablation systems for use by the Interventional radiologists.
●Performs myelogram of the complete spine utilizing conventional x-ray units, spot films, patient immobilizers, etc. when required.
●Prepares contrast materials that are used in Interventional radiology and other exams.
●Practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.
●Ensures the images are successfully transmitted to PACS and are available for radiological interpretation.
