Assisted the plants Maintenance department with troubleshooting the production line Allen-Bradley PLC’s and PanelViews.

Worked with Ross Products Corporate Engineering staff to install a demonstration project which was instrumentation to perform high speed counting on one wrapping machine.

Responsible for troubleshooting a Rosemount Level transmitter that was installed on one of the bulk syrup storage tanks.

Kept track of the daily tank level and collected production data on production line equipment too track usage.

Graphed the data and wrote a report to the Plant Engineering Manager comparing usage out of the tank to production line usage and showed that losses in syrup were really caused by daily temperature swings and temperature variance on delivery of new syrup.

Performed special projects for the Engineering Manager.

Assisted maintenance with the maintenance of the plant boiler, cooling tower and waste water treatment systems.

Thompson Candy May 2004 – April 2006

Maintenance Manager

Hired as the plant’s Maintenance Manager.

Had six mechanics reporting to me.

Assisted them on a daily basis troubleshooting the equipment on our two candy lines and the

assorted wrapping machines we used to package our products.

Responsible for troubleshooting and upgrading the various Allen-Bradley PLC based controls

on the two candy lines.

With the help of my crew, installed instrumentation on our bar line to insured the molds were

filled at a consistent temperature and sensors to help prevent molds from jamming as they

moved through the line including the tempering machine heat exchangers.

Organized the Maintenance Shops spare parts storage area.’

Set up the Preventative Maintenance program and software and responsible for creating a

complete equipment database which helped the software schedule and print out daily

maintenance work orders.

Designed and installed automation to parts of the plant that were still manual operations.

Project scoping, final design, PLC/computer programming, HMI design and start-up.

Managed in-house projects that have had an approved budget of up to 3.2MM dollars.

Managed consulting engineers working on various plant projects.

Also worked as a Maintenance Supervisor one week-end a month and most of the major holiday week-ends for seven years.

As a maintenance supervisor oversaw PM and emergency maintenance on boilers, plate and frame/ shell and tube heat exchangers, plant cooling tower, compressors, pumps, screw conveyors, belt conveyors, ammonia refrigerant system, glycol system, steam trap inefficiencies, waste water treatment, storm water and CO2 collection/compression and redistribution systems. Also installed chlorine injection and monitoring for packaging water distribution.

Comstock Engineering Dec 1987 – Dec 1991

Systems Engineer/Contractor

Hired as a Systems Engineer, my first assignment with Comstock was assisting with the start-up of a Waste Water Treatment Plant in an automobile plant in Kentucky.

From February of 1988 to December of 1991, w was on contract with one of the major beer producers doing Electrical Control Design, PLC Programming and start-up using Allen-Bradley PLC-3, 3/10 and 5's.

Also used Allen-Bradley Advisor PC, Allen-Bradley PanelView and U.S. Data's REACT extensively.

Became more involved with instrumentation in control loop design, instrumentation specification and loop tuning.

K-Enterprises Aug 1985 – Dec 1987

Field Engineer/Lead Engineer

Hired as a Field Engineer I performed most of the service work provided by K-Enterprises.

Included daily service calls to local plants for electrical/mechanical control problems.

Also performed Lead Engineer on all of the automation projects quoted, designed and installed during this time period.

Closely involved with the Unimate Robotics work-cell we built and in -stalled for a customer in Hunt Valley, Md.

Worked with the Allen-Bradley SLC P.L.C.'s and G.E. P.L.C.'s that was used in our projects.

Proctor-Silex Apr 1984 – Jun 1985

Manufacturing Engineer

Hired as a Manufacturing Engineer I supported four production lines.

Responsibilities included trouble-shooting daily production problems, investigating means of machine automation and cost saving design changes to the Products.

Was also trained as an assistant Plant Engineer and was responsible for the plant's Nickel and Chrome plating department and the Waste Water Treatment.

Worked with the plants Texas Instrument P.L.C.'s.
