Dear hiring personnel,
I am writing to apply to the position of Customer Success Manager with Instructure in Salt Lake City, UT. The skills I have gained throughout my career apply extremely well to what is required to be successful in this position. Though my background is very different than what may be typical for a Customer Success Manager, I have always been successful with customer relations and will prove to be effective. I earned a B.S. from Brigham Young University in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation and an M.S. from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in Forest Resources. The passion, expertise, and skills I have with Customer Success will prove to be an asset for Instructure.
My entire career has been focused around the importance of education and people – this it was one of the reasons I originally chose the path of natural resources. I have the goal of helping others more effectively learn and appreciate learning. Since graduating and working in natural resources and education, I have learned that the best way to accomplish this goal is by improving the digital tools we have. I believe that I have the passion and influence to help other educators meet these same goals as we all work to help students learn and pursue their passions. I am one who loves helping others reach their potential and find what drives them to greatness. Based on my background, I am very familiar with teaching complex principles at a simplified level, which is an essential skill for Customer Success Management. I have held numerous positions that dealt in customer success. These duties came in the form of client success as a Warehouse Assistant Manager, customer support to agriculturalists as a Wildlife Specialist, funding agency success as a Graduate Researcher, and student success as a Teacher
(not to mention customer service to parents and administration as well). Having an approachable and likable personality, I connect with and develop strong relationships with others. I keep a calm demeanor and maintain leadership through a wide variety of circumstances – including during negotiations and addressing stressful matters. I have found that I have superior leadership abilities and I am able to see the big picture while directing those I lead to the fine-detailed needs. My professional experiences have also taught me effective methods in coordinating and communication. Additionally, I am an extremely skilled mentor and understand how to work with stakeholders (i.e. administrations, school boards, etc.). Finally, I am well practiced in Canvas as a student and as an instructor. I know that I would succeed in this position because of my passion and my skills in teaching, leadership, and helping others reach greatness. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you regarding my qualifications and experience. I hope that you recognize the valuable and unique skillset that I have, and the great potential I have in Customer Success Management. I am excited about the opportunity to progress my career and to work with you. Thank you,
Joshua Nix
