I started my career as an attached multi-lingual tour guide to state guests: Prime Ministers, Presidents, Ambassadors, Ministers, United Nations-Director General & Delegation, Travel Writers, Journalists, and other VVVIP state guests, from 1982-1988. I had the privilege to tour and guide VVVIP state guests to the most popular and safe tourist destinations in the Philippines, and experience the best hotel accommodations-from Batanes, the northern-most islands of the Philippines, to Dakak Resort in Dapitan City, the southern-most provinces, inMisamis Occidental, Mindanao.

I continued my DOT career in the Office of Tourism Development Planning (OTDP) from 1988-1995 rendering service with the following main functions, among other duties and responsibilities: (1) writing the DOT Annual Report; (2) integrating and consolidating Quarterly Accomplishment Reports (QARs) of the various Attached Agencies of the DOT (Philippine Tourism Authority, Duty Free Philippines, Philippine Convention & Visitor’s Corporation, National Parks Development Committee, Intramuros Administration, etc.); (3) preparing Policy Proposals; (4) preparing inputs to Philippine Development Plans; (5) preparing inputs to the Philippine Development Plan for Women;(6) preparing Position Papers; (7) attending Public Hearings and various meetings involving and requiring the presence of the DOT; resulting to my (8) authorship of various published public documents such as : Tourism Policies Study, Social Costs Of Tourism, Policy Issues on Taxation, CRS/GDS & Deregulation, DOT Position on Air Deregulation, Proposed Measures on Dollar Salting, inputs to the Philippine Development Plan and the Philippine Development Plan for Women, among many others.

My humongous effort to forsake my 14 year career in favor of engineering my own children to become achievers provedsuccessful when my daughter passed the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) nationwide merit scholarship qualifying exam published in the newspapers Philippine Daily Inquirer and the Philippine Star on May 15, 2001; where only 30 students/scholars would qualify every year.

The scholarship grant is valued at PhP350,000.00/year and revocable if the student cannot comply with the General Education subjects minimum grade requirement of 85% and the Art field major minimum grade requirement of 90%, for the first year alone. Grades must be in increasing progression every year in order for one to maintain the scholarship status.

MS. EARTH PAGEANT 2007

PR Manager

I was invited to work for the Miss Earth Pageant in September-December 2007. I was in charge of plotting and managing the activities and schedules of the 87 beautiful and gorgeous Candidates, i.e.: Press Conferences, Photo Sessions, and Mass Media Appearances (TV and Radio) of all the Candidates. I escorted them to parties, hosted dinners, sponsored activities, and hotel and special functions. I interviewed some of the Candidates for articles. I edited the written contents of the website and the written articles about the Candidates. I acted as the Guest Relations Officer for the VIPs, Consulate, and Embassy Guests on the Coronation Night.

I became affiliated and accredited as a free lance Research Executive initially with AC Nielsen in 1997; currently I am affiliated and accredited with various research companies, namely: (1) AC Nielsen-Ortigas& Makati, (2) RSC Marketing Services, (3) Profess, (4) I Search, (5) DVR Marketing Strategists, (6) Philippine Surveys & Research Corp., (7) Market Relevance Corporation, and (8)CEC Research International. Highly competent in market research with the ability to interview executives, officers, and CEOs of various local and global companies; and capable of handling interview projects alone involving 30-40 base interviews.

In year 2000, I handled an interview project alone in the Philippines which involved a global interview of 60 countries worldwide.The project was initiated by former US President Jimmy Carter under the auspices of the Price Waterhouse Coopers through AC Nielsen on the topic OPACITY. I had the privilege to interview CEOs of Philippine Savings Bank, Oriental-Motolite Batteries, Central Azucarrera Don Pedro, Sta. In November 2004, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) launched an interview campaign of listed companies on Corporate Governance and Corporate Citizenship.CEOs I interviewed were from companies that include: Toyota Motors, Ten Knots-El Nido Resorts, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), Pilipinas Shell, Westin Philippine Plaza, Unilever, JG Summit, Kuok Properties/Shangrila Corporation, Aboitiz, Central Azucarerra Don Pedro (CADP), Aboitiz Group, Oracle Philippines, and Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, etc.

In April 2005, CEC Research International launched an interview project, which I handled alone, on Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Social Responsibility, of the top 100 Philippine corporations.

In my career with the Department of Tourism, I excelled to be one of the top/elite guides of the Department because of my impeccable language skills in English and multi-lingual skills in French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese; I was able to guide in the French Language, and not just in English. I was given the best assignments, assigned always to top level/red carpet state guests guiding VVVIPs mainland or inter-island from Luzon, to Mindanao.

Tour Operations I am capable of operating tours to anywhere in the Philippines seamlessly; that which involve the coordination and consolidation of several tourist destinations and travel components such as transportation, accommodations, meals, functions of tour groups, into one event; from ingress to egress.

Tour Guiding & Facilitation I am capable of guiding dignitaries or tourists to any part of the Philippines, whether in English or French; and I am able to handle tours.

I would be the person responsible to write the Quarterly Accomplishment Report (QARs) of the Department and then at the close of the year, I would consolidate all the Quarter Reports into the Annual Report of the Department and its Attached Agencies. I would be tasked to write Policy Proposals, Position Papers, Project Proposals, inputs to various public documents and highly technical documents such as the Philippine Development Plans; and I was made to attend Public Hearings and various meetings in defense of the Department of Tourism as against Women’s Issues or other concerns presented to us by various civil and civic organizations.

CAPRICCI GOURMET CAFÉ as Proprietress I put up a coffee shop in LegazpiCity, Albay in the Bicol Region in 1999. It was a four orange & green table coffee shop in a newly built business space along the highway with metal accordion shutters for aluminum/glass windows. My coffee shop was the only café serving flavored coffee in the whole of Legazpi-serving Amaretto, Choco-Raspberry, Hazel Nut, etc; while all the other local coffee shops served plain brewed coffee. The coffee shop business was pre-terminated because my daughter had passed the nationwide merit scholarship qualifying examination to the Philippine High School for the Arts which required direct support and supervision and that a parent be based in Manila.

SANDCASTLE TOURS as Co-proprietor/General Manager/Travel Executive I set up a travel agency with a financier/partner in August 2001. I created a wide and select network and base of business associates and clients; I negotiated for exceptionally low room rates & high rebates from business alliances; I established business relationships with various alliances in the travel industry; and I developed business and marketing strategies in the travel trade. Clientele included: Boehringer-Ingelheim, Clariant, Robinson’s Land Corporation, among others.
