DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

TOOLBOX TALK

Conduct weekly/or on the spot Toolbox Talk regarding the unsafe observation, ES&H messages and give recommendation to reduce the hazard and risk associated the task. Check and ensure contractors/subcontractors comply with safety rules and regulations.

WASTE MANAGEMENT ( PROPER HOUSEKEEPING)

Ensure contractors have suitable and sufficient waste receptacles available, clean and tidy condition. Ensure proper segregation of waste materials.

SCAFFOLDING

Ensure scaffolds have tag signed by competent person, displayed in date. Check scaffolds and access are completely safe, tied off and in good condition. Ensure tools and equipment is not carried by hand while using the ladder.

ELECTRICITY

Ensure frequency of inspection and color coding of all power tools and electrical cables be followed strictly. Check to ensure electrical supply equipment been tested, power supply equipment have been properly earthed, devices are covered to prevent to moving/electrical components. No cuts and not creating trip hazard.

PLANT AND MACHINERY

Ensure all operators been trained in its use and hold relevant valid competence certificate i.e. driving permit for plant; valid driver licensed. Check if plant and machinery have adequate warning system installed. Ensure it to have undergone inspection and in good condition for daily/weekly monthly checks and ensures that it should being used which fit for the purpose with competent banks man in place to control movement.

Fall Protection (Working at Height)

Ensure workers working at height have the correct fall protection devices, edge protection; crash mats, safety nets, full body harness. Check all walkways are free from any obstruction. Check all harness is in good condition and free from defects.

HOT WORK

Ensure hot work permit in place covering the work activities, valid date and relevant method statement/risk assessment attached. Ensure fire extinguisher is provided and the area is cleared of any combustible/flammable materials and fire watchman is in attendance of the location both during and 30 minutes after hot work activities.

LIFTING OPERATIONS

Ensure all lifting tools and accessories have valid lifting certificates, crane certificate (TPC) and all safety devices, i.e. crane alarm in general condition. Check crane operator complies with daily inspection. Ensure lifting operation is properly planned, load dynamics, ground level, outriggers are fully extended and properly set up to protect the swing radius of the equipment and it should be well supervised.

EXCAVATION

Ensure necessary permits are available, valid date with relevant drawing attachment for existing buried services. Check if excavations are in good condition with no evidence of cracks/minor collapse of materials. Check excavation complies with the method statement. Ensure appropriate barricades around the excavated area, with proper and safe access, amber lights at night and appropriate signboards are in place.

WORK IN CONFINED SPACE

Ensure preliminary test, conduct job safety analysis and give recommendation to reduce hazards present in confined space prior to commence the task. Ensure proper access/ingress be installed as well as emergency retrieving equipment. Ensure person/s authority to enter the confined space, duration of work, time in and out. Ensure standby responsible person for frequent monitoring. PTW system must be followed strictly.

CONDUCT SAFETY BRIEFING, STARRT – SAFETY TASK ANALYSIS RISK REDUCTION TALK

Observant to employees from highest position to lowest position, areas of task based to safety. Conduct re-briefing for the unsafe acts and conditions. Reporting to direct supervisor and warn to unlawful.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in promoting Occupational Health and Safety within the company and develop safer and healthier workplace and procedures.

Ensure that workplaces conform to safety standards and all necessary permits are secured before work execution.
