EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Proven experience implementing IIA framework for internal auditing, COSO framework for internal control, GAAP standards for financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for internal control over financial reporting. Strong analytical skills effective in assessing risk, control design, control effectiveness and operating efficiency. Able to design, collaborate and obtain buy-in for appropriate control and operational enhancements. Exercise a collaborative management approach based on leading in-step with the strategic objectives of the overall business. Practically speaking, setting a plan consistent with the overall business plan; not building staff and organization for the sake of it. Rather, meeting the business where it is at with the appropriate resources to address key risks that the organization faces.

Internal audit work should set an example for how business is conducted. Non value add check-the-box audits should be avoided; likewise, critiques and gotcha moments. The importance of working with management to deliver a service with real and perceived value cannot be overstated. Audit methodology needs to be streamlined and efficient.

Prior experience also includes leadership of functional teams in finance and business development. These responsibilities (product P&L, commodity supply, spend targets, material/product performance metrics, etc.) don’t fit the normal mold of an audit professional. But, they do provide a refreshing perspective into the challenges facing operating and business leaders. This creates a durable foundation for collaboration with management that won’t typically be found with audit and risk leaders.
