Phd research supported by Institute of Engineers (India) 2014 - 2017 under the scheme of ‘grant-in-aid’ (Project ID - DR2014001) Project : Episodic air quality in urban traffic corridors RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

Doctoral Training

Synopsis: This work mainly deals with development of a method to identify the episodic air quality, to determine the most episodic prone locations and health risks to sedentary workers in an urban traffic corridor caused by the key traffic originated pollutants CO, PM2.5 and black carbon (BC).

The main steps to achieve the aim was:

i. Selection of urban traffic corridor and monitoring locations. ii. Field work to measure CO, PM2.5 and black carbon (BC) concentrations, meteorological parameters and traffic flow.

iii. Estimation of emissions of CO, PM2.5 and BC using COPERT IVand ARAI emission factors.

iv. Method to identify and find degree of episodic conditions. v. Identification of times and locations of episodic conditions because of CO and BC in the selected traffic corridor.

vi. Identification of the influencing factors responsible for the episodic conditions. vii. Testing and validation of AERMOD dispersion model to identify times and locations of episodic conditions.

viii. Application of the model to determine spatial concentrations in the selected urban traffic corridor.

ix. Analysis of health risks (COPD, LC, IHD and Stroke) because of the PM2.5 episodic air quality using a health-based social survey and the exposure-response function models Mitali Sahu, November2020

Masters Training

M.Tech.

Synopsis: For this study the children between 3 to 12 years were selected for health assessment from different socioeconomic background. 1195 questionnaires were included for the analysis. Thirteen ambient air monitoring stations were chosen over Durgapur to cover the total study area uniformly. Zones were derived based on child health data. For each zone average ambient air parameters were compared to the health characteristics of the particular zone. All the statistical works were done by using SPSS.

M.Sc.

Synopsis: Antifungal activity of isolated rhizospheric bacteria were assessed against plant pathogenic fungi revealed its potential as bioinoculants for controlling plant diseases. INVOLVEMENT AS TEACHING ASSISTANT AND SOME ACADEMIC PROGRAM Doctoral Teaching Assistant, IIT Guwahati, India
