Cornell Rocketry Team Ithaca, NY
Freshman Year October 2019-Present
§ Designed a small-scale ammonium perchlorate rocket motor to empirically determine burn coefficients for custom APCP fuel mixture
§ Wrote a MATLAB script to design a minimum length converging-diverging nozzle using method of characteristics
§ Wrote a 56-page guide on the basics of compressible flows in rocket engines and how to design solid rocket motors for new member training
§ Wrote MATLAB script to perform combustion modeling for Ammonium Perchlorate BATES grains
Summer Project
§ Designed Ethalox Engine with full justification for all design choices (Ethanol concentration, O/F ratio, chamber pressure, chamber geometry, injector geometry, expansion ratio, throat area)
§ Performed Finite Element Analysis on stress bearing parts to ensure an adequate factor of safety Sophomore Year
§ Designing main throttle valve for bipropellant ethalox engine
§ Using CFX to determine pressure drop across valve, and using FEA to determine structural loads
§ Writing GNC code for parafoil recovery of rocket
§ Laying out sensors for recovery flight computer
Vertical Takeoff and Landing Rocket (Personal Project) Ithaca, NY April 2020-August 2020
§ Built and coded a vertical takeoff and landing rocket powered by racing drone motors, that utilizes thrust vectoring fins for attitude control using a PID control loop
§ Wrote flight controller from scratch using C++ including a Kalman Filter for altitude estimation
§ Designed rocket structure using Solidworks and 3D printed it
§ Gained experience with electromechanical systems SKILLS
