Mid surface extraction of an IP-05 part after geometry cleanup

• IP 05 geometry imported to HyperMesh, its surface checked for defects, proper geometry cleanup done.

• Mid surface was extracted manually using surface offset option.

• The surface was for geometrical defects and clean up was done were ever necessary. 2D meshing front hood part of a car and checking it for quality criteria

• CAD model of front hood of a car imported to HyperMesh

• Surfaces of outer panel and inner panel were checked for defects and cleaned up their mid surfaces were extracted separately

• 2D mesh with element size 5mm, element type mixed created on the each of the mid surface separately.

• Re meshed the parts of mesh to give a good mesh flow, finally quality check done. 2D meshing backdoor panel of car and checking it for quality criteria

• CAD model of back door of a car imported to HyperMesh

• Surfaces of outer panel and inner panel were checked for defects and cleaned up their mid surfaces were extracted separately

• 2D mesh with element size 5mm, element type mixed created on the each of the mid surface separately.

• Re meshed the parts of mesh to give a good mesh flow, finally quality check done. 3D tetra meshing crank housing and steering assembly and checking quality criteria

• Crank housing model imported to HyperMesh all the solids deleted to give a surface extract.

• The surface cleared of geometrical errors and small fillets less than minimum element size i.e. 2 disfeatured.

• First 2D tria shell elements created and these elements converted to 3D tetra mesh and checked for Test collapse error the errors cleared manually.

• Symmetrical steering assembly model imported to HyperMesh and similar procedure carried out to create 3D tetra mesh on one side and mesh reflected to the other side.

Joining a frame assembly using different types of connectors in Hypermesh

• A frame assembly containing multiple parts imported to Hypermesh

• 2D mesh was created on every surface and these components were joined together using connectors like bolt, seam weld, spot-weld adhesives etc.

Simulation of a frontal crash of a reduced car model -- BIW

• The BIW model is imported to hypermesh.

• Load case setup is done TYPE 7 is preferred, shell parameters of type 7 are Igap – 2, inacti-6, istf-4, idel-2,iform-2

• A plane rigid wall is created with friction value -0.1, initial velocity of 35mph, mass of the car is reduced to 700kgs.

• COG is defined next to the driver, accelerometer is employed in the b pillar

• Runtime of 80ms is used with the time step is 0.005ms

• Energy error and mass error is thoroughly noticed for all time steps during the simulation, animation file(.h3d) is taken for Post-Processing in Hyperview

• The time history(T01) file is opened in Hypergraph and the results were taken into consideration. Self accumulation of waste plastic and debris using water bin
