Designer Design

I write this letter to apply for the position of an Interior Designer or a Conceptual Designer. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Interior Design, highly passionate about my choice of career and would like to secure a job as a Junior Interior Designer or a job with a similar role at your company.

I am a good team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills, both oral and written. Over the course, I have been experienced with software applications such as AutoCAD 2D, Google Sketch-up, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. I am also familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. Being a creative person with an artistic flair I can produce free hand illustrations, sketches and perspective drawings. Being artistic has helped me develop my skills at choosing colors wisely, observing details, materials and perceiving scale/ proportions. With an excellent ability to communicate ideas of design and recognize a client’s vision, I’m confident that I can do justice to the tasks I’m given. I am capable of working effectively under pressure and am also a very fast learner. I possess good present-ability skills and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work within time limits. I frequently follow up on new trends, concepts and changes in the field of design to stay updated about the same.

Having completed my one-month internship with the company Quanto Bello, Doha-Qatar, I assisted the head designer with:

• The progress of the design, by producing AutoCAD drawings of detailed plans and sectional elevations, specifications and furniture detailing for three different commercial projects; Jamocha Café at HIA Terminal 3, Jamocha Cafe-Kisok at HIA and Café De Louver, coffee shop.

During my eight and a half months’ internship at Blueprint, Lusail-Qatar, I assisted the designers and architects to:

• Draft and produce detailed plans and sectional elevations of various projects such as Alemni Learning Center, Oryx Educational Center, Al-Raed Supermarket at the Pearl, Apple Butter Café in London, Extra Shot Kiosk at the Qatar University Metro Station, Bang Bang Kiosk at Lusail Corniche and Megaformer Studio at the Vo2 Gym in Villagio.

• Create detailed drawings of storefront signage for retail outlets of brands such as Repossi, Rice to Riches. Café Di Roma etc

• Draft detailed furniture and technical drawings (furniture, DB Covers etc) for the North hill Lebanese Restaurant.

• Produce procurement lists of accessories and furniture by networking with local and international suppliers and dealers.

• Produce a detailed list of local and international dealers and suppliers for various brands of materials such as tiles, lighting and furniture, kitchen supply, sanitary ware etc .

• Printing shop drawings, creating transmittal forms and attended a couple of meetings with product dealers and suppliers.

• Creating 3D images of the project site and showroom façade using Adobe Photoshop, in order to provide a visual representation of the final results for JLR Showroom and its surrounding features to the client.

• Develop the design and create layouts, sections and elevations of the Bang Bang Kiosk at the Lusail Marina promenade; along with its Material list.

• Create glass partitioned rooms in the SIS Office at the Tornado Tower, West Bay.

Over the course I learned to work at a highly professional and accommodating environment that gave me the opportunity to learn a lot in terms of design as well as technicality. I was exposed to various types of projects that taught me to be versatile, by challenging my skills and abilities at each step.

While interning at Havelock One, Doha-Qatar for three months, I was able to be an integral part of their design team and contribute to various projects by:

• Creating detailed drawings of the plans, elevations and sections for 2 commercial projects at the HIA, Excess Baggage-Bag Wrap Unit 01 & 02 and a branch for the Commercial Bank-Qatar.

• Assisting the Head Designer with material selection and creating the detailed drawings of the sectional elevations for two large residential villas located in Qatar.

• Creating and proposing the concept design for 2 commercial projects; the Anaya Office by Qatar Insurance Company and a Yoga Studio located inside the Mondrian Hotel-Qatar. Issuing the BOQ for the two projects and conducted a site survey along with a client meeting for the former.

• 3D Modelling of 3 projects, QIC-Anaya Office, Mondrian Hotel-Yoga Studio and HIA- Commercial Bank Branch (without render).

• Assisting with various other tasks like sheet arrangements, contacting suppliers and dealers for material selection and purchase and attending the client meeting to prepare minutes of the meeting.
