This design experience covers many areas within the upstream oil and gas field including oil batteries, gas processing facilities, pipeline and well pads, SAGD facility design, and minable oil facilities. He has experience in all areas of piping design including lead positions, designer and also as a checker. Michael is proficient with Autoplant, AutoCAD, ProCAD, Cadworx, Navisworks Simulate and Smart Plant Review (SPR).

Tasks included initial man-hours estimates thru to complete detailed design engineering construction work packages. All design is done using 3D Autoplant or Smartplant 3D modeling and ISOGEN isometric outputs. In addition all site visits and formal client model reviews were additional responsibilities.

Piping lead/designer responsible for initial design and layout for the meter skid as well as the piping interconnection piping to/from the tie-in’s. The work included creating 3D models for the layout, client model reviews, MTO dumps, DBM/EDS documentation input. In addition preliminary drawing development of the plot plans and isometrics were completed in order to completed stress reviews and for the DBM/EDS report.

Piping lead/designer responsible taking the DBM/EDS scope and developing the Detail Design and construction deliverables. Task included piping plan and isometric modifications as well as developing new piping isometrics for construction.

Enercore Projects LTD – Typical SAGD Well Pad (Senior Piping Designer)

Senior Piping Designer tasked with design and management duties to develop a typical SAGD well pad for various processes. The concept was to be able to provide to clients a TIC for the modules required to construct a typical 10,000bbl SAGD well pad. The design concept is to provide designs for modules that can be transported conventionally, by rail and by sea for the various processes.

Laricina Energy – Germain Commercial Development Project (Senior Piping Designer/Area Lead)

Senior Piping Designer/Area Lead responsible for overseeing 4 designers for the Inlet Treating Area. In addition to supervision and guidance, tasked to ensure all deliverables met the trended schedule.

Suncor Energy – Firebag Pads and Gathering System Sustaining Pads. (Piping Lead)

Piping Lead responsible to produce pre-EDS documents. These documents included plot plans for three pads and associated gathering systems

Piping lead responsible to produce the piping EDS deliverables. These deliverables include but are not limited to, EDS drawings, man hour estimates, material take-off for the gathering system, and input to the project schedule.

Devon Energy – Jackfish SAGD Project Detail Facility Design (Area Lead)

Area Lead responsible for the development of the Oil Treating section of the Facility. The duties included coordination of staff and workload to achieve the project schedule deliverables. In addition responsible to conduct model reviews and complete the appropriate progressing tasks to determine project status. The project was a 3D PDS project.

Exxon Mobil – Celtic Dual Well SAGD (Senior Piping Designer)

Senior Piping Designer responsible for the piping design for the Celtic SAGD project. The project included tie-in at an existing SAGD Battery, 3 above ground flow lines from the pad to the battery and the pad design. The duties of the project included 2D detail design of the piping in the existing facility as well as the design of the 3 flow lines. In addition to the design the duties included checking of the pad design as well as drafting and coordination of the P&ID’s and line list.

Enercore Projects LTD – Northern Blizzard Plover Lake Thermal Recovery Project (Senior Piping Designer)

Senior Piping Designer tasked with facility layout and isometric production. The layout work consisted of plot plan development, piping transpositions preliminary layout for all facility areas and detailed design of the OTSG module/building, the Fuel Gas module and the Inlet Separation module. In addition to the design work was also involved in coordinating the cad efforts of the team to ensure communication and consistency for daily tasks.

Grizzly Oil Sands – Algar Lake Plant 1 (Senior Piping Designer)

Senior Piping Designer tasked with layout and isometric production of small bore piping (1 ” and smaller). The base design was done by others and Enercore was asked to provide hand sketched isometrics of the small bore piping for routing and MTO purposes.

Phillips Alaska – Alpine Capacity Expansion Project. (Senior Piping Designer)

Senior Piping Designer responsible for the development of the Sea Water Pipeline upgrade drawings and co co-ordination of the piping layout work. As a Senior Designer, responsible for various piping studies including the Hot Oil System, complete with exchangers, heater, pumps and rack piping, the Stabilizer Building, complete with Stabilizer, Hot Oil Re-boiler, Exchangers, Vessels etc., and the study of the modifications to the CD1A Manifold Building. Other duties included client liaison with regards to these studies, as well as other area’s, participated in a Project `Value Engineering’ seminar as a representative for the engineering group, and site work related to numerous tie-in’s at the two facilities involved in this project.

Conoco – Empress 6” Re-Injection Retrofit project (Senior Piping Designer)

Senior Piping Designer responsible to creating a Piping Construction package in order to route a 6” C3 Re-injection line from the Loading area through the existing plant to the injection tie-in. The package contents included Plot Plan, P&ID’s, Line Schedule, Tie-in Index, General Arrangements, and Isometrics (PLED’s).

Exxon/Mobil - Celtic SSE Injection Project (Lead Piping Designer)

Lead Piping Designer, responsible for overseeing the piping design of the initial Injection Pilot at the 16-30 location. In addition, was the lead piping designer responsible for piping design for the 1-30 facility and the co-ordination of piping components relocated from 16-30 to 1-30 location.

Alberta Energy Corporation – Foster Creek Pipeline Pump Station (Lead Piping Designer/Coordinator)

Lead Piping Designer/Coordinator responsible for overseeing the project from a piping design standpoint. As well as co-ordination, responsible for the detailed piping layouts and drawing production for the pumping station at Foster Creek and tie-in’s at La Corey and Wolf Lake. Also responsible for the co-ordination and requisition of Client drawing files for all disciplines.

Alberta Energy Corporation - Sierra Gas Project Compressor Station. (Lead Piping Designer/Coordinator)

Lead Piping Designer/Coordinator responsible for overseeing the project from a piping design standpoint. As well as coordination was responsible for the detailed piping layouts and drawing production for the addition of a new refrigeration package and tankage.

Chevron - El Segundo Refinery Hydrogen Reformer Upgrade* (Senior Piping Designer)

Senior Piping Designer responsible for interconnection piping layout in various areas of the existing facility related to the installation of a new Hydrogen Reformer Furnace. In addition the responsibilities included field verification of tie-in’s and the preparation of tie-in isometrics.
