Experience Overview:

Working as “CAE Engineer” in L&T Technology Services Ltd from OCT-2018 to NOV-2020 date for Clients- MARELLI formerly Calsonic kansei (Tier-1 OEM).

Role and Responsibilities:

To Execute the CAE analysis as per the Application and requirement.

Perform structural analysis as per Design engineer requirements.

Understand the Inputs and prepare Understanding documents.

Interacting with the Client.

Estimate the Time required.

Meshing, Connections, performing the Analysis and Document the Results.

Communicating with the Design Engineers on the requirements and results.

Significant Projects:

Project: Dynamic Analysis of Exhaust Hot End. (POWER TRAIN sub assembly)

Scope: To evaluate Exhaust assemblies for Frequency response analysis.

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: Hyperworks/NASTRAN

Description: Finite element modeling of was done with various 2D/3D elements. Deck was prepared. Natural frequencies of the assembly were computed, dynamic analysis was carried out for the assembly and results are documented.

Project: Heat Transfer and Thermal Analysis (Low Cycle Fatigue) of Exhaust Sub-Assemblies. (POWER TRAIN sub assembly)

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: Hyperworks/ABAQUS

Description: Finite element modeling was done with various 2D/3D elements. Linear Material and thermal expansion properties, localized nodal temperature sets were created and temperature applied for those sets. Steady state heat transfer was done and results documented.

With Non-linear material and contact properties, results from Heat Transfer analysis was given as Input and simulated for thermal analysis. Strains (elastic and plastic strains at different steps) were taken as output and life cycles were calculated and documented.

Scope: To evaluate Evaporator and Blower Assembly (EBA) for Frequency response analysis

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: Hyperworks/ANSA/NASTRAN

Description: Finite Element model is taken. Boundary conditions and Analysis setup is done as per the requirement by applying the Enforced Acceleration/Displacement Load at mounting locations.

To evaluate the Blower Mounting Location Stiffness and vehicle mounting stiffness.

To evaluate stiffness of clips and to suggest the Designer the clip location for additional stiffness.

To suggest the Designer if any additional ribs required for stiffness on the CASES of EBA.

Project: Linear Static Analysis for sub-assemblies: Integrated Control Switches, Air conditioner Control Switches, Cluster Meter, Electronic Control System, Radiator tanks (Internal pressure and Torque loads), PCB Strain analysis for Electronic System Modulus and IP panel.

Scope: To evaluate the Assemblies for Normal loading and Max load Conditions

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: Hyperworks/NASTRAN/ABAQUS

Description: Finite Element Modeling is done using 2D/3D elements. Thickness and linear material properties are applied. Connections are ensured are as per the applications. Standard Quality checks are performed to ensure that model is free from errors. Boundary conditions and Analysis setup is done as per the requirement and the analysis is performed and the results are documented.

PCB strains are evaluated for push and pull loading to know the deforming regions on the PCB and the results are documented.

IP Panel is evaluated at mounting locations in the initial design phase and Suggesting the Design Engineers, which areas need to be strengthen.

Project: Dynamic Analysis of Electronic Modulus.

Scope: To evaluate Electronic control Systems like “Cluster Meter, Integrated control Switches etc.,” for Frequency response analysis.

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: Hyperworks/NASTRAN

Description: Finite Element model is taken. Initially Free-Free analysis is done to ensure the model doesn’t have any loose parts and to check for any negative modes. Boundary conditions and Analysis setup is done as per the requirement by applying the Enforced Acceleration/Displacement Load is applied on the input for the specified frequency range. The model is evaluated and ensure that there are no peaks than the input load within 100Hz(limit). stress are evaluated at peak frequencies and documented.

Project: Dynamic Analysis of HVAC-Evaporator and Blower Assembly (EBA)

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: Hyperworks/NASTRAN

Scope: To perform Modal Analysis to know the Natural frequencies and Mode shapes

Description: Finite Element Modeling is done using 2D/3D elements. Thickness and linear material properties are applied. Connections are ensured are as per the applications. Standard Quality checks are performed to ensure that model is free from errors. Initially the Free-Free analysis is done to ensure any loose parts and to check for any negative modes. Boundary conditions and Analysis setup is done as per the requirement and the analysis is performed.

Natural Frequencies are evaluated and mass participation factor of each mode is analyzed to know the effective Mode.

Project: Static, Dynamic and Thermal analysis of BATTERY trays

Scope: To evaluate Structural and thermal strength of battery trays.

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: HyperMesh/ABAQUS/NASTRAN

Description: Finite element modeling was done with various 2D/3D elements. Linear Material properties are applied. Connection, Boundary conditions and analysis setup is done. Structure is evaluated under the Static load and Dynamic load conditions – Modal and FRF and thermal is done to evaluate the Dynamic behavior and the results are documented.

Project: Static and Dynamic analysis

Scope: To evaluate HVAC structure under steady load and Dynamic-Motor frequency.

Client: Calsonic Kansei Tools: Hyperworks/NASTRAN

Description: Finite element modeling was done with various 2D/3D elements. Linear Material properties are applied. Connection, Boundary conditions and analysis setup is done. Structure is evaluated under the Static load and Dynamic load conditions – Modal and FRF is done to evaluate the Dynamic behavior and the results are documented.

Project: FE Modelling of Plastic components -INSTRUMENT PANNEL COMPONENTS, DOOR TRIM COMPONENTS, BUMPER,CONSOLES,BATTERY BOX etc., and

BIW components-HOOD, FLOOR, DOORS AND TAIL GATE etc.,

Tools: Hyperworks

Description: Input is in the CAD model in the form of IGES format. These are fully plastic, mid surface is extracted and the meshing as per client criteria.

Thickness is assigned as per client requirement. In plastic parts important thing is capturing features clearly and checking the Normals and penetration with quality check as per client requirement.
