CAREER STATEMENT
Seeking a position which will enable me to utilize my skills and knowledge, self-motivated, result oriented, licensed and board certified Advanced Practice Nurse in Family Practice (FNP-C).
I have sound clinical, strong communication skills with a focus on understanding and meeting the needs of the detainees, patients through an inter-professional model of care which is tailored towards each patient with the goal of attaining a desirable outcome, not limited to their mental and emotional wellbeing.
As an Advanced Practitioner Nurse, it is my responsibility for ensuring the well- being of patients and for providing a positive, supportive environment for patients and other clinical staff in conjunction with physicians, Pharmacy and other allied healthcare workers
My goal as an Advanced Practice Nurse is to be patient oriented, compassionate, and to deliver quality health care utilizing best evidence guideline protocols.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Family Nurse Practitioner: STG International/Immigration & Custom Enforcement (ICE) Detention Center Houston: June, 2019 – present.
Function as a Family Nurse Practitioner, caring between averages of 10 to 25 detainees a day in a clinic setting.
Obtain patients histories and perform complete physical examinations of new and existing patients
Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, referral, treatment, and procedures.
Implement treatment plans, order prescriptions and referrals as necessary for detainee from ages 18 to 99 years including immunization and well woman.
Order clinical laboratory and diagnostic test; interpret examination findings, test results and treat accordingly.
Consultation and collaboration with physicians in clients with care issues beyond my scope of practice and those requiring a higher level of care.
Educate on disease prevention and management for detainees with active and chronic illnesses; and schedule follow up visits for acute and chronic care within the time frame.
Collaborating and making appropriate referral to other members of the interdisciplinary/inter-professional team for psychotherapy support for detainee with psychological distress.
