Prepares general procedures and lists requirements of each type of operation per- formed, and standardized packs and draping of patients for each operation. Informs staff of new procedures, administrative changes, special instruments or su- tures required for scheduled operations and problems in asepsis by issuing daily re- ports, conference and other methods.
Periodically discuss with staff, major problems and surgical procedures and conducts orientation and in-service training programs to provide good patient care, efficiently aid surgeons, ensure observance of aseptic techniques before participating in opera- tive procedures.
Ensure that operating rooms are kept scrupulously clean, and coordinates operating activities with those of other departments and services and the medical staff. Cooperates with purchasing department in the selection of new instruments, supplies and equipment and in the experimental use of these items. Participates in formulating administrative personnel policies pertaining to operating room staff and directs maintenance of required records and reports including work performance.

Monitors and evaluates the performance of staff nurses and non-professional staff in provid- ing patient care and organizes work schedule to maximize development. Orients staff, nursing students, patients, and their families in related areas such as philoso- phy, objectives, and policies of the hospital/nursing service and other health information. Monitors the inventory and maintenance of supplies, equipment and facilities to provide appropriate service and healthy physical environment. Performs administrative duties such as preparing different reports and schedules of assignment.
Mentors student nurses and monitors their development by preparing programs/ assignments with the clinical instructor and evaluating their performance. Perform other functions as may be assigned.
