Ensure that operating rooms are kept scrupulously clean, and coordinates operating activities with those of other departments and services and the medical staff. Cooperates with purchasing department in the selection of new instruments, supplies and equipment and in the experimental use of these items. Participates in formulating administrative personnel policies pertaining to operating room staff and directs maintenance of required records and reports including work performance.

Orients staff, nursing students, patients, and their families in related areas such as philoso- phy, objectives, and policies of the hospital/nursing service and other health information. Monitors the inventory and maintenance of supplies, equipment and facilities to provide appropriate service and healthy physical environment. Performs administrative duties such as preparing different reports and schedules of assignment.

Mentors student nurses and monitors their development by preparing programs/ assignments with the clinical instructor and evaluating their performance. Perform other functions as may be assigned.
