Product Designer (based in Fort Wayne, Indiana): Responsible for teaming with the national Engineering Department to design industrial kitchen commercial ovens - gas and electric, performing in various capacities for both new product design and sustaining engineering working with Pro/Engineer/Creo Parametric 2.0-M160 and Windchill/IntraLINK 10.2-M030, and implementing, installing, and configuring using SolidWorks 2017, SolidWorks Enterprise PDM 2013(SP05), and Autodesk Vault Professional 2018.

Assisted coworkers with software functionality issues, supplied guidance and instruction to new users, and managed the upkeep and administration of engineering software.

Generated designs for new product development, including new looks, electrical components, gas delivery and ignition, and heat exchangers for delivery into the oven cavity with recycled return air. Result: Delivered cost reduction, efficiency gains, economical burns, and sales opportunities.

Received customer request for a specific need, recognized opportunity to fill void in product line between countertop and 3-foot oven series and designed new style of oven unit. Result: Expanded product line, provided entry to new market, and projected to increase revenue by $300,000.

Served on cross-functional team with goal of increasing ease of assembly and reducing total number of SKUs while increasing quality across the entire large oven line, utilized ProEngineer/IntraLink integrating an interlocking system of sheet metal components, and created a modular construction. Result: Simplified design, enhanced structural integrity, allowed interchangeable subassemblies to be prebuilt and stocked, reduced quantity of parts, increased efficiency, and significantly improved quality, with annual savings of $250,000.

Redesigned CTI oven line for dual voltage and multiple inputs due to varying electrical requirements, quality, and voltages in different regions around the world. Result: Exceeded corporate goal for SKU and warranty claim reduction of $1,000,000 and decreased model count by up to 50%, each unit capable of switching between input voltages running electrical power supply input variations.

Collaborated to create major design changes necessitated by vendor’s discontinuation of a major electrical component used in both natural and LP gas ovens, overhauled electrical system, managed functional performance and endurance testing on each and every model, and then submitted to all necessary agencies for approval. Result: Met necessary timelines and received approvals without interrupting production or deliveries.

Selected by Director of Engineering to coordinate internal and agency testing, and field studies conducted in several countries with meticulous reporting to ensure proper functional operation in different conditions and environments. Result: Improved product performance, reliability of components, and consistency of successful ignitions on all gas models as confirmed through sales/customer feedback.

Modified Bills of Material (BOMs) and drawings for instruction booklets servicing over 180 different countries and printed in several languages to consolidate manuals. Result: Reduced 40 manuals to 2 (1 for gas and 1 for electric), eliminated manual packaging errors, simplified international instruction to 12 languages, and met agency approvals.

Served as Engineering Lead and point of contact for BOM and contract review to ensure zero duplication of SKUs when customer orders were received, the manufacturability and validity of the requested configuration, and that it met the necessary regional electrical standards and agency requirements. Result: Provided research to ensure request configuration had not already been set up for any other customer, proper approval of finger kits, and guaranteed accuracy of sales contracts.

Managed Product Change Orders (PCO)/Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes for Lincoln product line across 2 facilities located in Cleveland, Ohio and Mississauga, Ontario. Created and maintained spreadsheet comprised of active change orders and progression through system from point of conception being approved or rejected, prioritization, drawings created or updated, BOM structures maintained in both QAD for engineering and finance, as well as Arena for manufacturing, drawing access, and work instructions. Result: Ensured accuracy of all changes released to QAD system.

Worked with Compliance Engineer to meet regulations and standards of governing compliance agencies globally, and modified, updated, or redesigned the entire Lincoln conveyor oven line as necessary to comply with new standards. Result: Satisfied updated requirements for ASO-Saudi Arabia, KUCAS- Kuwait, SANS-South Africa, CE-Europe, and CIS-Russia/former soviet states, and ensured ability to sell products in all target countries.
