Role : Structural durability and strength analysis of full vehicle and its sub systems using CAE/FEA (Finite element analysis).

Domain Proficiency -CAE :

1.FE modelling/meshing of component and systems using appropriate 1D, 2D (Shell and mid surface meshing) and 3D (Tet and hex meshing) elements, Batch meshing.

2.Material and thickness property assignment to FEM Components using standard approach and using TCL macro files.

3.Full vehicle integration/assembly using different types of connections based design.

4.Proficient in giving the connections such as welds (spot and seam), fastener connections (bolts and rivets) and adhesives in component, assembly level based on the design and requirements of function.

5.Detailed weld modelling and calculation using IIW standard and Weld Notch analysis.

6.Loads (Inertia, point and pressure loads) and boundary conditions (symmetric and enforced displacement) application to FEM based on the standards and functional behavior of assembly.

7. Proficient in Linear and Non-Linear static Analysis, debugging the model.

PROJECTS

1.Cab GRP and Valance Structure Assessments for EA, WML and SWR Projects:

Modelling of components, assemblies and integration to full vehicle.

Performed linear static, for all proof (Inertia, pressure loads) and ultimate loads.

Detailed modelling of critical components with Notches and welds with convergence study.

Performed Non-Linear material and contact analysis for critical components, wherever it is applicable.

Fatigue assessment for welds, bolted regions and parent material.

Critical Welds are assessed using IIW standards and Weld Notch Analysis.

Fasteners assessments, including bearing strength and pull-out calculations.

Technical report preparation showing the FEA results.

2.Optimization of Structures for CoT Projects :

Optimization of rail underframe mounting and seat supporting structures.

The objective of the project to reduce cost on track with suggestion of design modifications, proposing new concepts and change of manufacturing methods.

Final proposed design assessed against the all proof (Inertia, pressure loads) and ultimate loads.

3.Structural Assessment of VTA Converter :

Performed normal mode and frequency response analysis.

Lifting analysis is performed to assess the lifting beams strength.

Static assessment performed for all proof (Inertia, pressure loads), ultimate and fatigue loads.

Suggestion of design modifications to meet the requirement criteria.

Technical report preparation showing the FEA results.

4.Optimization of Aventra Motor Noise Shield :

Topology optimization of motor noise shield under temperature loading

The objective of the optimization is to reduce the stresses on the shield by altering the designs.

Secured Bronze medal for successful completion.

5.Multiple Secondary Structure Assessments for EA, WML and SWR Projects:

Grab Rails, Box Seats, Bicycles towage, Toilet Modules, Cab Back Walls, Draught Screens, Electrical Installations, Equipment Cup Boards, Door Assessments with locks, Under Frame Mounting Structures and Roof mounting structures etc.,

Software Used: HyperWorks (HyperMesh, OptiStruct and HyperView), MSC Nastran, Abaqus, MDesign and Fatigue tools.

WORK ACHIVEMENTS:

Notable contributor for the financial year 2018-19 and 2019-2020.

Secured two Bronze medals for excellence while executing EA and Optimization projects.
