Working as Computer-aided engineering analyst and Design Engineer at DRDO, Visakhapatnam. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Company : Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Designation : CAE/FEM Analyst and Design Engineer (SRF) PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Working at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), DRDO since 07th July 2016 to till date and has immensely contributed in the development of the new state-of-the-art delivery platform for underwater vehicles and engaged in various stages of their development. 1) Project : Air to Underwater Torpedo Release System Working in this project since 14th August 2018 to till date in Design and Analysis of Underwater Components.

Responsibilities:

Performed Finite element meshing and applied boundary, loading conditions using preprocessor ANSYS Workbench for several underwater components.

Analyzed the results involving von-mises stress, forces and deformation by using the post processor.

Conducted Static Structural Analysis of various underwater components and analyzed the results.

Performed Dynamic Analysis for system and sub-systems of the torpedo and optimized their design.

Evaluated the vibrational frequency of different mounting brackets where instruments are mounted which are subjected to rigorous vibrations by performing the Modal Analysis.

Performed the Eigen Value Buckling Analysis for torpedo shells with different thickness and chosen the optimum thickness based on the design criteria like strength to weight ratio, positive buoyancy and space limitation.

Thermal Analysis has been performed and analyzed the temperature distribution and heat flux to the different electronic components and PCB’s.

Estimated the fatigue life and factor of safety of propeller shaft through fatigue analysis.

Simulated the entire torpedo by subjecting it to acceleration vs. time and estimated the stresses and deformations by performing the Shock Analysis.

Generated 3D models of the complete torpedo and its sub-components by using Autodesk Inventor and also maintained the mass distribution of instruments such that center of gravity is within the limits..

Performed theoretical calculations in the Design of Pneumatic Ejection System of a torpedo which is based on piston cylinder mechanism.

Reduced the mass of the several components by choosing effective materials, size around 10% which significantly minimized the overall vehicle mass criteria.

Recommend Design Improvements based on CAE results.

Optimized Designs to improve durability by reducing fatigue and failures commonly found around weld regions.

Assisted design team for developing vehicle body at different design stages.

Maintained the database of different designs which was useful in reducing modeling time and comparing vehicles of different platforms.

Further, Contributed extensively in finalizing Preliminary Design Documents and also prepared Comprehensive Presentations to the Report Results of various subsystems for the project and conclusions to the higher management.

2) Project : Autonomous Underwater Vehicle

Worked in this project from 07th July 2017 to 13th August 2018 in Design and Integration of Underwater Components.

Responsibilities:

Prepared manufacturing drawings of systems and sub-systems of a torpedo using AutoCAD along with their GD&T interpretation.

Performed Pressure tests and Leak checks of several underwater components and prepared their check sheets and test reports.

Participated in the manufacturing of various Component using CNC machines, their stage inspection and dimensional checks.

Estimated the Total Buoyancy of the Torpedo both analytically and by using Autodesk Inventor.

Prepared Bill of materials (BOM), Quality Documents for various tested components. REFERENCES:
