INDUSTRIAL TRAINING:

• I exposed to an industry A.P.FOUNDRIES for a time of 6 months (Worked areas-lathe machine, Grinding machine & Honing machine) during my diploma 3rd year.

PROJECT WORK:

• PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF DIESEL ENGINE BLENDED WITH COTTONSEED OIL: Biomass derived fuels are preferred as alternative Fuels for IC engine due to its abundant availability and renewable nature. Various proportions of palm kernel oil and diesel are prepared and used as fuels in a single cylinder, four-stroke DI diesel engine, to study the performance and emission characteristics.

In the present investigation a methyl ester derived from cottonseed oil used as a bio-fuel. By taking cottonseed as raw oil, biodiesel was prepared through transesterification process by using methanol and KOH as a catalyst. And prepared biodiesel were blended with diesel in proportion of 10% (B10), 20% (B20),25% (B25) and 30%(B30) for analysis. The results shows For 25% COSME blend 3% of mass flow rate decreases at B25 blend at full load and the brake specific fuel consumption also decreases of 2% at B25 blend at full load. There was a 2.41% increase in brake thermal efficiency for B25 blend and blend at full load and mechanical efficiency is also increased by 5% at B25 blend at full load condition.

Out of all blends, keeping the low Fuel Consumption (FC) and High Brake Thermal Efficiency with low mass flow rate B-25 blend will be the best one. So this can be used as substitute for Pure Diesel.

Our project mainly focuses on the characteristics and performance of diesel engine blended with cottonseed oil on direct injection CI Engine with different blends of the oil with Diesel and comparison of those readings with Diesel performance.
