Preventive maintenance and repairs to the diagnostic and therapeutic biomedical equipment of the Hospital.

Performs specialized technical tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, servicing, modification, troubleshooting and calibration of a variety of complex biomedical equipment.

Ensures timely and efficient repair and maintenance of all biomedical equipment available in all areas of the Hospital including the Operation Theater, Laboratory, Cardiology, ER, ICU, NICU, Nursery, Dermatology, Physiotherapy, wards, Labor rooms, CSSD and Radiology.

Operates within the scope of established Quality systems like ISO 9001:2000, JCIA, ACI and other International accreditation standards as applicable.

Coordinates and evaluates the work performed by vendors and contractors including maintenance, calibration, installation and verification of service documentation.

Documents the introduction of new equipment, corrective and preventive maintenance actions and special requests as required.

Manages a library of all service manuals and information brochures on all biomedical and electronic equipment in the Hospital Provide technical assistance and instruction in the operation and maintenance of equipment.

Monitors and evaluates the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.

Carries out all routine and emergency maintenance and calibrations of equipment as required

Ensures adequate and appropriate inventory of spare parts and supplies needed for the service and maintenance of equipment.

Negotiates contracts for maintenance services.

Provide recommendations regarding purchase of biomedical instrumentation or related accessories.

Liaises with medical and other Departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in biomedical equipment maintenance and performance improvement activities.

Participates in the orientation of new employees to the Department, administrative processes and organizational culture.

Conducts ongoing review of Department policies procedures related to biomedical equipment.
