Logistics & Materials Manager w/ SAP

NOTABLE PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS

Orchestrated effort to relocate the entire Prototype Steering Gear department from the production plant in Kentucky to the engineering facility in Michigan 30 days earlier than originally planned; remained ~$400k under budget.

Directed the comprehensive, intradepartmental effort to define/design the steering gear prototype production process flow including quotations, component ordering, construction, and shipping processes.

Supervised the closure of local stamping operations and transfer of raw and finished goods material, tooling, machinery, packaging and customer contacts to Atlanta, GA and Toluca, MX all within budget, on time, and without interruption to the customers supply chain.

Key point of contact for the introduction, training, implementation and technical support of all North American operations on the use of the SAP R/3 ERP system, including MM, SD, & PP modules, Easy DMS procurement utility app and customer EDI integration – the first within the company outside of Europe. Key member of SAP rollout team.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

ROBERT BORCH AUTOMOTIVE STEERING LLC, Plymouth, MI Manager, Prototype Assembly Dept 2018 – Current

Supervised the complete relocation of all inventory, tools and equipment of the Prototype mechatronic steering gear assembly department across several states – all within the first 4 months of assuming position. Directed the creation of the company’s first comprehensive outline of current procedures/processes and needed improvements. Supervised and reviewed all activities of prototype build project executions including new vendor sourcing and development, vendor RFQs and awards, PO release, inventory component management, production build scheduling, and delivery coordination. Nominated for and participated in the Robert Bosch Leadership Focus Group.

ELRING KLINGER NA, Plymouth, MI Manager – Logistics, Purchasing & Prototype Operations 2013 – 2017

Sole manager for the entire purchasing (direct & MRO) process including receiving inspection and delivery requirements for prototype material samples to key customer accounts including Ford, GM, FCA/Chrysler, Asian and Heavy-Duty Truck OEMs as well as internal material evaluation requirements. Analyzed/verified requirements with internal Sales and Engineering department team members to establish and validate overall project costs, design feasibility, and delivery requirement compliance goals such as timing, labelling, and EDI compliance requirements.

Tracked and reported project status to customers and internal program managers. Responsible for receiving materials, inspections, and consulting with onsite design engineers to validate prototype materials before forwarding goods for validation testing. Administered and recorded shipment specifics to customer requirements, including labelling, packaging, and EDI processing of materials/prototypes.

Served as the primary local contact for TS16949 Quality Audit management; administered annual external audits; completed procedural updates, and monitored/guided key departments in assessing required documentation. Performed key role in several SAP system roll-outs. Implemented, managed, and trained a new SAP SRM purchasing module (Easy DMS) for several North American locations. Designated point of contact for SAP production and logistics problem solving/support for remote N.A. production facilities.

Customer Quality Coordinator North America – Midwest Region 2011 – 2013

Liaised with customers for quality issues directly at their manufacturing sites throughout the Midwest. Tasked with creating initial responses, drafting action plans, and arriving at equitable issue resolutions. Documented, maintained, prepared, and professionally represented the company for annual quality TS16949 audits.

IT Support, SAP System Representative North America 2009 – 2011

Upon the closure of the Livonia, MI production site, successfully transitioned into this newly created position to serve as the first point-of-contact for SAP support inquiries within the NAFTA region. Travelled extensively to Mexico, Germany, and various N.A. locations to provide training and support for new site acquisitions over a two-year period of phasing in and implementing SAP.
