Performs work by executing and implementing all policies and programs of the Green Oaks Juvenile Detention Center that serves over 12 Parishes in Louisiana. Executive level administrative responsibility such as facility meeting, Parish contracts, supervisors meetings, maintenance meeting to improve detention center/court room; formulates and recommends policies, procedures and budgets; and makes frequent contacts with public agencies, such as judges, DEA, civic groups, and other individuals. The Director schedules, attends, and meets with the Green Oaks Detention Advisory Board and communicate members. The committee’s recommendations go to Ouachita Parish Police Jury for consideration. Prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained by the Director of Compliance and Training. Ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; hiring staff consisting from counselors, administration staff, Detention Officers. Teaching and modeling fair, firm, and constancy and equitable treatment creating a learning environment and fosters teamwork within the group. Monitoring and controlling a budget of 10 million plus. Consisting of facility repairs, upcoming projects, and overtime.

Collaborate with other train masters, managers, and administrative staff to develop systems to improve productivity, efficiency, and reduce costs. Deal tactfully and effectively with difficult customers, crews, public, and administrators; adjust locomotive requirements to consist based on horsepower and trailing tons on a daily basis with a goal to minimize locomotive fuel and minimize utilization. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the train crew, control and understand the effects of major railroad budget and personnel; provide an accurate, complete, and timely investigation of all accidents and incidents, including causes, remedial action, and recommended solutions. Responsible for conducting performance, safety, policy, and procedure evaluations, daily reports, conference calls throughout the day, and an approximate 90+ hour workweek including weekends and holidays. Job duties and responsibilities include the use of written, verbal, and computer communication.
