During undergrad, I enjoyed working as an EMT in the emergency department and pre-hospital settings, gaining knowledge on medical skillsets and terminology, patient care standards and communication. During that time, I became aware about the detriments within the current healthcare system, with abuse of emergency departments and lack of primary care. I observed the demand for primary care providers, and for that reason I have made a commitment as an NHSC scholar to serve as a primary care provider in family medicine.
