Development Manager

Development Manager with a perfect blend of Technical Project Management experience using Agile Methodologies and past experience in Software architecture, design and development in Java/JEE and other technologies, across domains like Consumer mobile applications, Web-based Enterprise Applications, Enterprise Security, Network Management and Mobile Resource Management, that will enable me to deliver projects effectively and successfully.

Development Manager 2016 - 2019

Symantec Software Services Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, Tamil Nadu, INDIA. Responsible for delivering multiple projects related to Norton Family product (Android) on time and with utmost quality, managing stakeholder expectations, enhancing engineering excellence of the team, and managing the performance and career development of reports. Accomplishments:

Project Delivery:

Ensured the successful delivery of 10 major releases across the iOS and Android platforms, zero bugs, including features like Search supervision, video supervision, Instant lock ability in parent app, Push Notifications, and zero-day support releases for iOS 11, Android O, P, etc. Constantly monitored product telemetry and ensured that any anomalies are acted upon, and the most relevant KPIs (like installs, active devices, demographic distribution, etc.) are properly computed and reflected. Also ensured that the product performance indicators like ANR (Application Not Responding) and crash issue backlog is addressed every Sprint. Constantly tracked Community Forums, Play Store reviews and call support cases to identify important product gaps and bugs and also ensured that they are included as Product Backlog Item (PBI) and informed the Product Manager for prioritization.

Worked with stakeholders to prioritize feature vs engineering items for delivery thus ensuring the technical debt is always under control, e,g. automation testing of legacy product features, this also reduced the Time To Market (TTM) for many releases from 5 days to a few hours. Introduced new thought processes to the team like using WireMock to do isolated testing of the mobile app (CI/CD improvement) and device cloud for testing the product across a range of devices People management:

Prepared customized career plans for team members by setting SMART goals and consistently motivated direct reports and rewarded outstanding contributions using the company's Reward program. Ensured team members understood what success means by setting clear standards. Ensured that the team always get the best infrastructure and tools that can increase their productivity, and also resolved blockers that impeded project delivery proactively at all times. Encouraged a culture of open feedback in the team to solve interpersonal conflicts quickly. Product Owner:

Served as the Product Owner for the team, converting brief requirements shared by the Product Manager into elaborate functional user stories (INVEST principle), clearly stating the Acceptance Criteria, Definition of Done, In Scope and Out of scope requirements and Non-Functional Requirements like response time, etc.

Constantly worked with the team to clear legacy backlog items, close long-standing tasks/user stories/Epics to maintain a good Product Backlog Hygiene. Coached the team on how to split user stories to achieve a good Sprint burn-down chart, and to look for ways of Continuous Improvement. Summary
