Moshe Greenberg was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. Being very close with the whole family, I began working full-time for Moshe and his wife, Abbigail, providing all the caregiving services I did for his mother, Rachel, during the four years I was privileged to work with her. I took 24/7 care of Mrs. Rabi, Rachel, may her memory be blessed, for four (4) years. Initially she was suffering from Alzheimers until she sadly contracted acute pancreatic cancer and passed away. My responsibilities were comprehensive: diet supervision, meal preparation, ethnic food preparation, monitoring blood sugar, blood pressure levels; feeding, administering medicines, visits to physicians, bathing, guiding exercise routines, grocery shopping, home economics and cleaning house. During that time we became very, very close. She referred to me as “my daughter” and I felt the same when I called her “Imma” (Mom.) Although not strictly part of my job, and because of our special relationship, I also entertained Mrs. Rabi’s relatives and friends with whom I am, to this day, very close and visit with them often on social media. (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Dementia, physical handicap, etc.) Diet & Nutrition, Emotional & Psychological support in the daily life of the elderly. I completed the course with honors and, following its formal end, chose to remain as a volunteer, in my free time, serving as an Assistant nurse for six weeks. During this time I worked even more closely with both Dr Larissa Cohen and Mrs. Miriam Aviram, RN, the Director and Head Nurse, respectively, of Alzheimer & Dementia Services. My responsibilities included administering medicine, serving and assisting in feeding patients’ meals, bathing and providing emotional comfort and support.
