Provides on-site technical support to the Naval Medical Information Management Center (NMIMC), Bethesda, Maryland. As a Senior Systems Engineer, Mr. Alford provides communication and information management tasks onboard the Navy’s Fleet of CVN’s, LHD’s, LHA’s, AE’s and shore facilities. In this role, as Technical lead he performs telemedicine applications helpdesk support and technical advice to support management decision-making, life cycle planning, and standards requirements development. The Naval Telemedicine helpdesk, technical, and systems support includes addressing the operational Telemedicine requirements of forward-deployed platforms, as well as fixed facilities. Mr. Alford’s responsibilities include equipment testing, troubleshooting, installation, repair, and problem resolution of all Telemedicine and related hardware and software. Specific telecommunications support includes technical assistance and determination of operational and technical requirements. Specific Operational Medicine and Joint Support Directorate Help Desk support includes both administrative and project management tasks. Mr. Alford is responsible for database development and maintenance, preparation of briefings and reports, and representation at key meetings. His responsibilities also include performing the formal development of training plans, standard operating procedures (SOP), instruction, and analysis of user training effectiveness.
April 1997 to September 2000: Old Dominion Systems Incorporated of Maryland, Germantown, Maryland. Provided on-site support services to the Naval Medical Information Management Center (NMIMC), Bethesda, Maryland and Johns Hopkins APL Laurel, Maryland. As a Senior Systems Engineer, Mr. Alford performed technical and systems functions, telemedicine applications helpdesk support and technical advice to support management decision-making, life cycle planning, and standards and requirements development. He maintained an inventory of Naval Telemedicine equipment and helpdesk databases. The tracking database included the monitoring of equipment warrantees and Life Cycle Management (LCM). In addition, Mr. Alford supported the NTBO in providing documentation, in-process reviews, and other routine and special briefings and presentations (hardcopy, electronic, and verbal) relevant to the Technical Support Center. Mr. Alford provided telemedicine support aboard naval vessels, military treatment facilities, related military, or support technical laboratories throughout the world as required.
