Personal statement
I am a dedicated Mechanical Engineer with a keen interest in applying my knowledge in the workplace. I have experience in using CNC lathes, mills, laser cutters, waterjet, welding, Solidworks 2019, CES EduPack 2019, MATLAB, CAD, CFX and ANSYS. Achieving a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering has further developed my critical thinking and problem-solving skills. EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree: Mechanical Engineering 2015-2019 University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK
Key Modules: Manufacturing and Design Engineering (CNC lathe, Milling, Waterjet, laser cutter) ● Engineering Applications ● Thermo-fluids with CFD ● Mechanics and Materials ● Operation Management A and B ● Mechanics Kinematics and Materials ● Mechanical Engineering Systems ● Engineering Simulation.
Air motor manufacturing using CNC milling and lathe machines in University workshop 2015 Used CNC milling and lathe machines for turning ● Feed rate, spindle speed, cutting speed were set ● Datums were set for reference ● Used drilling, chamfering and handsaw ● Micrometre, Vernier calliper and dial bore gauge were used to measure length, diameter of holes and grove lengths ● Solidworks 2019 was used to design the air motor ● Wore steel toe boots, goggles, lab coat in the workshop
(PPE).
Bachelors Project Title-Investigation into Dengue mosquito trap design 2019 PUGH methodology was used to identify the best designs ● Solidworks 2019 was used to design the detailed designs ● CES Edu pack 2019 was used to change life cycle of the designs such as end of life and material Inorder to identify the best possible design. A-Levels 2013-2015
Holy Cross College, Bury, UK
Mathematics (B Grade), Chemistry, Computing.
GCSE 2012-2013
Smithills Secondary School, Bolton, UK
Mathematics (A Grade), Sciences (Grade B), English language (Grade C), English literature (Grade B) WORK EXPERIENCE HISTORY
Bolton Plastics, 2019
Production Operative
• Worked at various workstations as a team leader to maximise output of products and quality of the finished product.
• I adhered to all health and safety procedures and wore all the necessary PPE.
• I always collaborated with the trouble shooter to ensure an effective production line. Massey Ferguson and Motorcycles Factory Lahore, Pakistan, September 2018 A day visit with the engineer
• I was informed that well-trained and well organised staff members are a key to running the production line without blockages.
• I was told the quality of their product comes from valuing their customer’s needs by paying attention to every detail of the tractors and motorcycles. University tour of Mercedes-Benz Factory in Stuttgart, Germany and BMW museum Munich, Germany, 2017
● I learnt Mercedes and BMW are always modernising their technologies Inorder to have an efficient production of the cars.
● I was able to gain practical knowledge of the fact that some designs are not feasible to be manufactured.
Operating CNC lathes, mills, laser jet machines, 2015-2018
● Developed an understanding of how lathes machines work by understanding the way coordinates are set. Specifying tool codes, tool numbers and how reference points are made.
● Successfully manufactured the parts of an air motor such as cylinder, piston, connecting rod, base.
Seddons construction site work experience for 1 week, Bolton, 2011 (Year 10 in Secondary School)
● Adhered to strict Hazard safety rules which included behaviour and safety wear (Helmets and steel toe boots).
● I learnt that the site managers made sure that the guidelines given by the architect and the engineers were followed by the workers/ labourers to produce a perfect outcome. Retail shop assistant, 2013-2016
● Ensured the business was fully stocked by making daily inventory lists.
● Developed customer service skills by being polite and placing their needs at priority.
● Ensuring repeat business by building close community relations. SOFTWARE
SOLIDWORKS 2019 ● CES EduPack 2019 ● CAD ●CFD ● ANSYS CFX ● MATLAB ● Simulink ● LabVIEW● XYZs Proto Trak (CNC) ● Microsoft Office (Microsoft Project, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) ACHIEVEMENTS
Rocket car challenge: (Second year at University)
Designed the concept design for the rocket car ● Modelled the selected concept design in Solidworks 2019 ● Imported the Solidworks model into ANSYS CFD for air flow analysis ● Used the most streamlined design in the race competition ● Our team won the race. Hovercraft competition organised by the University of Manchester (Secondary School Year 10) Worked in teams ● Developed designs ● Designed the hovercraft to support the driver and the cushion made from plastic wrapping ● Our team won the competition. National Citizen Service (2012)
Learnt to work outside of my comfort zone ● Climbing high mountain peaks and helping team members ● Helped the elderly in care homes.
Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award (2011)
I successfully completed the 4 key elements Volunteering, Skill, physical and expedition● I took part in the final expedition which was extremely challenging ● I walked to and from the camping site. PERSONAL INTERESTS
