My name is Allison Coleman. I have over 20 years experience in the classroom. Throughout my years of working with children I have worked with many different types of children in a variety of different settings. I have taught in a special education classroom in small groups, large group and one on one. In following years I have had the opportunity to act as lead teacher to an afternoon class of 15 typical children and 2 special needs children, in a typical preschool environment.

I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students including typical children, children with autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, intellectual disability, Rhett’s syndrome, fragile X, ESL children and children with hearing loss and children with ED. I have dealt effectively with a wide variety of behavioral challenges. Through these experiences, I have been able to remain sensitive to students’ unique capabilities and individual needs, doing everything in my power to bring out the best in each and every one of my students. In the classroom I provide individualized support to each child while collaborating with the lead teacher and the rest of the educational team to cultivate a supportive learning environment, where each student is able to learn and succeed.

Through my years of assisting in the classroom I have developed a strong commitment to children,Teachers,Parents and the team in which I work closely with I also have a deep belief in the abilities of all of my students. I bring to a classroom a strong work ethic and intense dedication to my profession. Additionally, I bring a positive attitude, am highly organized and possess strong communication skills.
