CREWING SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE

Service/Compliance

Ensure that cost effective pairings are generated with compliance to all regulatory and business rules in a timely manner for long term schedules.

Ensure that monthly crew pairings are generated and published within the required timelines that provide a stable platform for the training planning and rostering process.

Work with manpower planning in forecasting manpower requirements for a long term schedule by feeding information about augmentation requirements, crew block hours and duty day statistics and identifying seasonal peaks and troughs in flying patterns that may affect manpower requirements.

Ensure timely feedback is given to network planning on all schedule change proposals and ensure that only agreed schedule changes are incorporated in the published schedule and rosters.

Ensure that all defined targets/timelines are complied with and provide high-quality service to stake holders.

Build a strong relationship and coordination with all stake holders by advising and providing feedback to relevant cases and scenarios, conducting period meetings to understand any ongoing issues and work out mutually agreed ways to fix the issues.

Serve as a subject matter expert and communicate with a range of stakeholders within Etihad Airways.

Safety

Run fatigue analysis for specific pairings through SAFE application and ensure that the pairing is within the threshold fatigue score. Run such pairings through Fleet management for further review prior publish.

Cost/Analysis

Review and analyze long term and short term schedules periodically and identify potential schedule changes for improving efficiency and reducing crew costs, make recommendations to network planning with clear details of the potential cost benefits and work with stake holders towards implementing the recommended changes to realize the potential savings.

Ensure that all operational stake holders are informed of the schedule changes that are recommended to network planning to allow them to incorporate any changes they make need to make at their end.

Analyze and track the impact of all schedule changes against budgeted schedules and report significant trends to the Management.

Report the details of the cost savings achieved for a year to Head of Crew Resources. Reporting

Publish the crew block hours and duty day statistics for long term and short term pairings to manpower planning within agreed timelines for timely processing of manpower requirements for a given schedule.

Publish ancillary crew costs (allowances and hotel nights) for a long term schedule to Finance within the agreed timelines for budgeting purposes.

Publish monthly pairings productivity report to roster planning team for management of stand by profiles.

Communicate any other report requested by management/stake holders on demand. Communication/Co ordination

Communicate any long term/short term crew pattern changes to all operational stake holders (Ops, Airport Services, Catering, etc.) with as much advance notice as possible.

Communicate the potential crew patterns to the hotel sourcing vendor and co-ordinate with the vendor on periodic basis to ensure all required arrangements are in order.

Communicate augmentation requirements to Reservation Services and follow up as required to ensure that seats are blocked off from inventory for crew rests where required.

Ensure timely information to roster planning teams of significant schedule changes/crew complement changes that may require any configuration changes in the rostering systems

Ensure proper handover to rostering and crew control teams for the monthly production pairings.

Co-ordinate with network planning teams for information related to new fleet codes/aircraft cabin configurations etc. expected in the upcoming budget schedules and make necessary configuration changes in the pairings system prior starting pairing optimization.

Co-ordinate with guest services for crew complements for new destinations/fleet/seat configurations and ensure they are captured in the pairings. Automation

Continuously work towards improving and developing internal systems and processes.

Be proactive in finding more efficient ways to work using the available IT systems

Periodically test and report any system bugs to the IT team and systems vendor for a timely fix.

Identify ongoing challenges/pain points affecting efficiencies of the team and come up with ways to reduce manual tasks.

Training/Mentoring/Team Management

Take accountability of the pairings planning team for all pairings related work/tasks and represent the team amongst different stake holders.

Mentor team members and encourage them in finding new and more efficient ways of doing tasks which not only saves time but also enhances their knowledge.

Train new team members on pairings systems and processes.

Ensure team members are briefed of any system/process changes in a timely manner. JOB DESCRIPTION: EMIRATES AIRLINES

Build error free, legal and cost effective pairings using the pairing system adopt for flight crew and cabin crew on a yearly and monthly basis for the purpose of manpower planning for budgeting, for roster bidding and roster production for all flight crew and cabin crew.

Build error free, legal and cost effective pairings for the cargo flights based on the proposed and published freighter schedules.

Prepare and supply duty days report to manpower planning controller for the purpose of manpower planning for the financial year.

Detailed analysis of all the pairings and propose means/methods for optimum utilization of crew in a cost effective manner to Manager, Crew Resource Planning.

Build and publish monthly pairings for flight crew and cabin crew by the mutually agreed timelines for flight crew training planning, line bidding and roster production. Ensure that all timelines are met with.

Communicate changes in crew patterns to all concerned to ensure that all logistical arrangements are in place for the operating and deadheading crew.

Analysis of adhoc flight schedules (freighter and commercial) in terms of manpower requirements, FTL compliance and impact of the proposed changes on the crew rosters. Provide suggestions for cutting costs without compromising on any operational requirements/company policies.

Fatigue (FRMS) analysis for various crew patterns on the SAFE application (on demand).

Assist crew controller on testing and automation of the pairing system. JOB DESCRIPTION: INDIGO AIRLINES

Generate monthly roster for pilot and ensure compliance of FDTL/ Expiry under DGCA regulations. Also ensure that the pilot rosters are published in time as per the agreed timelines.

Prepare crew patterns on basis of aircraft rotation received from the Engineering department. Build cost effective and legal pairings for flight crew and cabin crew for monthly roster production and also for the analysis of flight schedules.

Prepare manpower requirement report and communicate the same to all stake holders who are responsible to ensure adequate availability of crew resources for smooth operations of company’s flight schedules.

Liaise with Crew Management and Standards for planning and execution of all training requirements of pilots and plan line training for pilots.

Maintain updated record of ongoing and pending line training along with various checks required for crew to meet the legal requirements.

Update all concerned regarding planned v/s executed training with comments. Ensure that the training targets are met with.

Train all crew schedulers on all the aspects of working of crew scheduling software.

Train crew logistics staff on all aspects of the systems for proper functioning of the desk.

Ensure all crew schedulers are kept updated regarding any change in DGCA/Company regulation.

Monitor working of crew schedulers and provide all necessary help and cooperation. Ensure availability of Crew Schedulers during the published office hours.

Conduct crew planning briefings for newly inducted pilots.

Participate in crew interaction sessions to address crew concerns/queries pertaining to roster planning and roster management of the crew members. Monitor the working of crew scheduling desk on a daily basis to ensure the following -

Ensure that all crew members’ activity is updated in ROCADE

Ensure the integrity of crew scheduling desk by running ROCADE reports to ensure that all flights are legally staffed as per the rules laid down by the Regulatory Authority.

Provide suggestions on formulation of policies and procedures for smooth working of scheduling department.

Suggest and implement means and methods of cost effective operations.

Handle disruptions in day to day operations as well as IROPS in close co-ordination with the OCC and other concerned departments to ensure maximum OTP.

Handle day to day issues that may come up between pilots and rostering and ensure roster stability to the maximum.

Ensure that all crew concerns/queries are addressed promptly and effectively. Take escalation calls from crew members as and when necessary.

Testing of all rostering applications to ensure that they are all functioning in order. Liaise with vendor for any issues in the rostering software and ensure follow up and timely resolution of the issues.

Handled the initial set up of the rostering and pairing optimizers (Arcon and Raptor) for Indigo Airlines.

Monitor working of all crew logistics staff on a daily basis to ensure the following -

Ensure that air crew ground & air transportation is arranged in advance with proper notice to vendor providing the service

Ensure that when a crew goes into a layover, a hotel rooms is confirmed and available for the crew member upon arrival.

Ensure that all changes, cancellations, and revisions to crew schedules are coordinated and communicated with all concerned departments i.e. crew transportations, hotel etc. along with proper notification made to crew members.
