Duties at South African Post office:

Ensure that vehicles are serviced in line with the vehicle’s maintenance plans.

Liaison with logistic managers about accidents and incidents or faults reported.

Assisting in vehicle evaluations and recommendations after accidents.

After accident repairs inspection on vehicles and recommendations.

Investigate all accidents and incidents and submit report.

Investigate all technical failures and report on it.

Manage the daily schedules and co-ordinate breakdowns/services of a fleet consisting out of 1678 vehicles (heavy commercial vehicles, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles, tailifts,forklifts and scissor lifts.

Duties at WJ Fleet Services: 2015-05-03 – 2017-01-31.

Technical.

1.The scheduling of the annual services of the trailers from January – December.

2.The scheduling of the annual services of the truck tractors from January – December.

3.Ordering of all service parts for the truck tractors and semi trailers. Mercedes Benz Axor 3340,Mercedes Actros 2036&2644,UD Quan UD390,410,450,490 AND UD290 T/T.

4.Ensure trailer axles is inspected and correct parts used for Hendred and BPW axles and correct lubrication is used.

5.Ensure ABS valve on semi trailer is in a working condition and the parameter setting correct as per specification.

6.Servicing of all unit on site with OEM Parts and lubricants as per manufacture.

7.Inspection of all 5th wheels on a 3monthly basis and ensure correct settings on the 5th wheel to ensure 5th wheels are correctly for road safety as this is a safety critical item.

8.Inspection on all kingpins and apron plates on a 3 monthly basis to ensure that this equipment comply to the road Act 1996 and issue a safety certificate.

9.Inspection monthly on landing legs and construction of landing legs to ensure the landing legs comply with safety of the trailer.

10.Ensure all trailer chassis and crossbeams is inspected monthly and the semi-trailer for secured for safety.

11.Ensure that the roller doors is in a working condition and safe to use and all cables adjusted.

12.Ensure the tailift Dholandia and Skyjacks tuck away or Cantilever is service every 3 months and inspected once a month.

13.Ensure that the tailift load test certificate is done once a year and up to date for safe working as per OHSA Act. Records of this certificate needs to be in all depots and audit once per year.

14.Ensure all repairs to tailifts is done as per OEM standard and the tailift in a working condition at all times.

15.Ensure that the tailift electrical system is in a working condition and inspected every 3 months.

16.A 24 hour tailift technician needs to be on site to do all repairs and breakdowns.

17.Ensure all lights in a working condition. All electrical work needs to be carried out by a qualified auto electrician.

18.Inspect the GRP body every 3 months for structural wear and tear and operational wear. All GRP bodies needs to be repaired by the OEM of the coach builder.

19.All refrigeration equipment needs to be inspected once per month and wear necessary repairs needs to be carried out by Carrier refrigeration or GEA to enable working condition.

20.Regassing of these units needs to be scheduled and all equipment and warning devices on the unit need to be inspected and calibrated by Carrier or GEA.

21.Tyre surveys needs to be compiled on a monthly basis.

22.All documentation with queries needs to be compiled and send to fleet management to enable to analysis all tyre failures, wheel alignment problems under and over inflation needs to be address.

23.All scrap casings needs to be recorded as per serial number and cause of failure.

24.A tyre track program needs to be in placed to measure all tyre performance in the fleet and do the correct analysis to ensure the correct tyre for the correct application for the application is selected.

25.A tyre contract need to be in place to the supply of all virgin casings and re-tread casings.

26.A 24 hour breakdown assistance needs to be in place to do tyre breakdowns.

27.A 24 hour diesel technician needs to be on site to ensure all diesel and air related breakdowns is attend and the communication to a outsource supplier to enable the correct parameter settings on semi-trailer ABS Valve. Signing of the correct parameter of the ABS brakes.

28.Monthly inspection on solar panels needs to be conducted to ensure that the solar panel is in a good working condition and the batteries is charged and the system is safe to use.

29.Ensure all cof’s is done 30 days before expiring of license disc and operators card.

30.Annually fuel emission testing.

31.Consul fault finding and electrical fault finding on unit’s and possible sensor replacement to eliminate electrical faults.

32.Investigation of component failure like drive train, clutch etc and technical report on failures.

33.Investigation of all accidents and the contribution of mechanical failure to this accident.

34.Contribution to driver training program to train drivers on driving technics and to use the equipment like refrigeration and tailifts correctly.

35.Inspection and final approval of all units involved in accidents in the fleet.

Financial:

1.Quoting for monthly maintenance fee for semi-trailers and truck tractors as per service schedule.

2.Quoting for all ad hoc repairs and obtain order numbers for the repair of these repairs.
