IMMEDIATE EXPERIENCE:

Worked AS Chief General Manager for Gujarat University Convention & Exhibition Centre, Ahmadabad from February 19, 2018 to November 6, 2019. I was heading this and the work required to be undertaking coordinate different activities such as marketing of the property, booking, fulfill the requirements of clients, housekeeping, security activities, etc. to run the venue as profit making centre.

EXPERIENCE:

Worked for JCB India Ltd as Consultant (from 1st August 20187 to 31st January, 2018 to help them for identification of location for their plant in Gujarat. For the purpose, locations short listed as per their requirements and details of plots/properties provided. Meetings organized with officials of State Government, officer bearers of Chamber of Commerce & Industries, etc.

Worked with Industrial Extension Bureau - iNDEXTb Govt of Gujarat organisation as Officer on Special Duty from May 2012 to February 2017 after retirement by attaining the retirement age of 58 years in the month of May 2012, in the post of Assistant General Manager. It may be mentioned that after retirement, State Government considered extension for 4 years and 9 months. Normally, re-appointment is given up to the age of 62 years and my case was considered by State Government as exceptional case.

The important task attended was work on Ease of Doing Business. This is important project of Government of India (still going on) at the instance of World Bank to improve the investment climate. The work involved reforms in terms of simplifications, to develop process for online applications, covey clearance online in stipulated time.

Attending domestic investment proposals by way of assistance to entrepreneurs for selection of project, selection of location based on requirements of the project, formalities required to be fulfilled, etc. Moreover, involved in marketing efforts of State Government to attract investment with organization of promotional programmes, by way of road shows in major cities where delegation led by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Ministers, etc. to interact with investors, participation at exhibitions, seminars, etc.

In addition to this, involved for participation of State Government at different forums and also active participation in mega events of Global Investors Summit, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, exhibitions etc. For marketing of Vibrant Gujarat: Global Investors’ Summit 2009, visited USA in the month of November, 2008 as delegate of the State Delegation. Similarly, had travelled to France & Italy for marketing Vibrant Gujarat 2011. Over and above this, Gujarat Government participated at

Exhibition organized by Engineering Export Promotion Council at Columbia and travelled to Bogota in 2011.

Bank of Tokyo organized seminar on Investment Promotion at Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo in December 2011 and invited Gujarat Government for participation and travelled to these cities of Japan for presentation on behalf of Gujarat Government.

Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI) organised seminar on Investment Opportunities in India and had invited Indian States for presentation and thereby travelled to Japan in the month of March 2014.

Thailand Embassy in India organised seminar on Investment Opportunities in India and travelled to Thailand for presentation on behalf of Gujarat Government.

State Government had so far organized Eight Summits of Vibrant Gujarat and actively involved for arrangements. For the purpose, necessary planning was taken up for smoother arrangements. The Summit organised in January 2015 was a grand success which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister, India. Seven countries including USA participated as Partner Country.

President, Chaina visited Ahmedabad where in Hon’ble Prime Minister remained present. MoUs were signed with China, meetings organized of Hon’ble Prime Minister with Shri Pankaj Patel of Zydus, Shri Gautam Adani, Adani Group, Shri Sudhir Mehta, Torrent Group, Shri Sudhir Jain, IIT, Gandhinagar and activities were coordinated.

The Summit of 2017 was organised with unique idea, having presence of Nobel Laureates, in addition to presence of Hon’ble Presidents and Prime Ministers of different countries. The activities related to accommodation, transport, protocol were carried out which can be sensitive for such mega event.

At the time of ending of the contract, the work of Ease of Doing Business was attended. Government of India initiated this programme to facilitate investors. The State Governments are required to create e-portal from where investors can submit online applications for the clearances, make necessary payments, formulate application form for various clearances, define required papers as well as time frame, etc. The actions taken were

evaluated and as per the evaluation, Gujarat and stand first in first round and in the second round, rank was given at third (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were first, followed by Gujarat).

Lastly, the post of Officer on Special Duty was held and the charge was given for the post of General Manager. In past was holding the post of Asst. General Manager, since November 1994 as well as worked as Senior Officer and Junior Officer also. During the tenure of Junior Officer and Senior Officer, was assisting for preparation of various study reports related to industries and regions.

Over and above this, worked with IIM, Ahmedabad as Establishment Clerk and with ISRO as Office Clerk A.

What can do in new assignment?

With experience of handling various activities smoothly, can play an important role in coordination, management of the project and day today affairs as Public Relations Officer also. In short can handle various activities smoothly with planning to achieve the goal and complete the task.

Cleared all modules of Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) conducted by International Association of Exhibitions & Events in 2018 and certificate received in June 2019 during convocation.
