EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Cryptologic Linguist Mar. 2020 - Sept. 2020
US Army Fort Sill, OK & the Presidio of Monterey, CA Sergeant Jeff Hicks: 816-***-**** A short-lived career with the Army as a Cryptologic Linguist in training. I completed Basic at Fort Sill, and concluded my military career at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. I learned to persevere through hardships, to listen with diligence and an ear for details, not to limit my potential, and to greet the rising sun eagerly and with a willingness to improve. Prep & Line Cook May 2019 - Nov. 2019
Merchants Pub & Plate Lawrence, KS Chef TK Peterson: 785-***-**** Responsible for preparing, cooking, and organizing a variety of upscale, contemporary dishes in a successful and fast-paced kitchen environment. Trained on and assigned to fry, catering preparation, pantry, and sautee. I learned to be adaptable, and how to listen to and emulate the cooks with more experience and/or knowledge than me. I also learned that fry oil leaves scars and should be respected by all who man the fryer, and that brussel sprouts have a tendency to turn a calm vat feisty. Prep Cook Feb. 2019 - May 2019
Monterey Village Assisted Living Facilities Lawrence, KS Mary Traul: 785-***-**** Simple cooking, cleaning, and maintenance in a somewhat standard commercial kitchen. I was responsible for preparing large volumes of food for ~60 residents. At any given time I was the only one manning the kitchen, so I learned how to cook for large amounts of people, and to prioritize different parts of a meal based on their prep/cook time. Line Cook Oct. 2018 - Jan. 2019
Culinaria Lawrence, KS Chef Evan: 785-***-**** Responsible for preparing a plethora of well-recieved mediterranean-fusion dishes from scratch as well as kitchen cleaning and upkeep. As my first kitchen job, I learned how to keep up with the demanding pace of a booming kitchen, memorize a menu, organize a work station, and that steady and focused produces better results than fast and eclectic. Contract Engineer Sep. 2017 - July 2018
Independently Sourced Leavenworth, KS John Karrasch: 913-***-**** Independently contracted design engineer, hired by a local entrepeneur to produce 3D renderings of solar panel accessories for cross-country vans. The work was either hand-drafted or completed using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. I learned how to balance a side-hustle with my work-school life, and how to work with a client’s specifications to develop an original product. Engineering Intern Mar. 2017 - Aug. 2018
Henke Manufacturing Co. Leavenworth, KS TJ Coyle: 913-***-**** Responsible for the upkeep of product manuals, under the supervision of TJ Coyle and Randy Wolf. Updated and tracked several integral spreadsheets daily, while maintaining and tweaking a database of rendered assemblies in SolidWorks. I learned how to divide large-scale problems into small, achievable goals in order to attain a clear picture of a given assignment and tackle it with ease. EDUCATION
The University of Kansas State College; Lawrence, KS Fall 2018 - Spring 2019 Attended with ambitions of pursuing a career in Computer Science and scholarships to match, but very shortly fell out of love with the idea of spending my life in front of a computer screen. I developed a thriving relationship with a chef ’s knife, and withdrew from courses halfway through the second semester. I learned that there’s no shame in leaving the University halls behind, that a spoonful of kimchi and a 3-minute egg makes every flavor of Top Ramen a hit, and how to manage my days with an emphasis on timeliness. Leavenworth High School Public High School; Leavenworth, KS Grad.: Spring 2018 Graduated with a 3.9 cumulative GPA, academic honors, and a humble handful of scholarships. I learned not to limit myself to a singular study, but to studiously delve into as many subjects as I can balance. SKILLS
