Subject: Junior Project Engineer Position
Dear Madame/Sir,
I am applying for the Junior Project Engineer position at your company. I recently completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at Concordia University. I would appreciate the opportunity to add value to your team. I am confident in my ability to contribute as a mechanical engineer with my technical knowledge, relevant industry experience, and well-rounded skillset.
At ABB Ltd, I was responsible for product development for emergency lighting and security systems. I collected information about relevant ABB products and technologies in order to achieve efficiency in my R&D activities and acquired an understanding of technical drivers and customer values. In addition, I designed products and modified existing models to develop and improve products using CREO/Pro-E. I applied the best engineering design practices including failure modes analysis (FMA) and design-for-manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) at ABB.
During my internship at Diebec Matrices Ltee, I used my analytical skills to find areas for improvement in the final inspection procedure and I applied my management skills to implement solutions to the issues I detected. By conducting mapping process and analyses for the CNC milling machine procedure, I improved the output production time by 37%, decreased hold-ups and ensured adherence to customer specifications which lowered product returns. In addition, I assisted the senior product design engineer and BOM technicians in the development of jigs and fixtures using AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
Through my academic projects, I have mastered my skills in 3D designing and modeling. For example, during my Computer Aided Mechanical Design course, I design a rack and pinion steering system using AutoCAD and CATIA software. I developed a computer analysis tool using MATLAB for calculation of parts and I used ANSYS structural analysis software (FEA) to solve complex structural problems. In order to acquire the most optimal structural design, I applied Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis.
I am very interested in being part of your integrated engineering team. Please call me at 438-***-**** to set up an interview. Thank you for your time and consideration, I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Rajosree Chakraborty
