Experience

Graduate Research Assistant West Virginia University Morgantown, WV 01/2018 - 05/2020

• Material Science: Generated computational model in DAMASK with defects of micrometer size and simulated the superalloy under cyclic fatigue loading and supervised undergraduate researchers for experimental analysis of cyclic fatigue loading on Inconel 718 which is used to validate the model generated and compare the results using the SEM images.

• CFD: Studied the effect of (1) Inlet velocity & (2) Syngas Composition on combustion properties of the micro-scale system using premixed syngas/air mixture in ANSYS Fluent. ‘The research paper for this work was accepted and presented at the peer- reviewed ASME, Power 2020 proceedings, and 2020 ESSCI spring technical meeting.’

• Database Management, Automation & Machine Learning: o Implementing supervised ML to reduce the computational expense for the simulations of the micro-combustor. (Tensorflow) o Conducted Unsupervised ML using PCA for analyzing the pattern of microscale features of Inconel718 (Python-sklearn) o Post-processed data in MATLAB for plotting, documenting and recording, and visualizing datasets using Tecplot. o Worked on the High-Performance Computing system of WVU for computation and developed the automation code to run the simulation and extract data using Python for DAMASK, thereby reducing the pre and post run-processing time to one-quarter. o Used Pandas framework in Python to input, read and execute data, in Linux env. and processed them in Paraview. Hydro-Mechanical Design Engineer Maa-Shakti Engineering and Hydropower company Nepal 11/2016 – 12/2017

• CAD modeling: Generated and verified robust 2D and 3D CAD models and BOM in SolidWorks utilizing IS and ISO GD&T for turbines and machinery of a hydropower plant such as penstock pipes, expansion joints, bend pipes, gate valves and trash rack.

• Created and approved BOM of the micro-hydropower components and assisted through different manufacturing process and managed different design processes: drafting, dimensioning, tolerancing and documenting to meet the specific design standard.

• Performed structural, fluid and thermal FEA on components and assemblies under development and improvement phases. Academic Projects

• Workshop Lab & Balaju Yantrashala training: Received hands-on training on Manufacturing and Fabrication process with Drilling, Lathe, Milling, Grinding, Sheet Metal Works, Sand Casting, Welding, etc. machinery to fabricate mechanical components such as shafts, key, spur gear, nut, bolt, steel hammerhead and hand, dustpan, etc. from the raw metal.

• Robotics and SolidWorks Training: Acquired comprehensive knowledge of robot sensor, actuators, their operation, human- machine interaction feedback system, and the control strategy, neuron-based artificial brains.

• Undergraduate Thesis: Developed a GUI tool in MATLAB which designed the hubs and shrouds of the Francis turbine blade which was then modeled using CATIA. The results were validated by importing and simulating the turbine in ANSYS CFX.

• Studied the heat transfer on Gas Turbine Blade tip: 1D Transient heat flow model was used to study the heat transfer on the Blade Tip using ANSYS Workbench-Transient Thermal, which was also solved analytically to compare and evaluate the results.

• Vehicle Parking Management system: Developed a tool for organizing vehicle parking using C which provided an interface to record the time of the vehicle entrance and exit & calculated the different parameters automatically. Active member of ASME, Silicon Valley Robotics, Women in Robotics and Experimental Aircraft Association
