SHOEBACCA - Irving, TX

October 2019 to March 2020

Established process paths for picking, shipping and receiving and developed the Standard Operating Procedures for the distribution centers. Improved process time of product receiving and minimized problems due to incomplete purchase in collaboration with merchandising and buying teams. Maximized personnel on the warehouse floor during all production hours by assisting in implementation of a split shift system. Implemented scheduling software that cut the current scheduling of employees by 3-man hours, tracked productivity vs attendance and streamlined leave requests. Executed an onboarding and training program that resulted in better qualified employees and less turnover of the employee population.

Key Contributions:

• Streamlined the shipping process by adding in automatic taping machines and a redesigned shipping box that resulted in reduced labor and supply cost. This resulted in a process improvement for the shipping process that led to 0 missed shipping times and earlier finish times which saved the company money by cutting overtime by 5%.

• Supervised 2 distribution centers (Irving, TX and Clarksville, TN) for an online shoe retailer with 1M+ in sales per quarter and 6000 products shipped per day.

• Partnered with IT to develop a metric based solution for tracking employee’s productivity rates and KPIs using Tableau and Magento. I then displayed those statistics, in real time, on televisions throughout the distribution center so that employees could see their progress. This resulted in better production across the processes due to employees competing against each other for rewards given by the management.

• Developed a training plan for all paths and implemented the retraining of all employees to the SOP standard of the timeframe of 1.5 months, this resulted in less mistakes due to improper teaching and knowledge gaps in the workforce.

• Streamlined the receiving process by adding stations within the receiving area and floating employees from other areas to augment the receiving staff as well as partnering with the buying team to develop better practices in writing and transferring purchase orders to the receiving team. This resulted in receiving being able to process a 3-month backlog of product in 3 weeks and solve problems that had arisen from purchase order numbers not matching the amount of product on the order.

Area Manager

Amazon.com - Fort Worth, TX

August 2018 to October 2019

Planned and executed productivity plans by reviewing work forecasts, determining productivity requirements, and partnering with other Area Managers to balance labor. Administered the installation of two Smart Pac machines that increased volume in the Singles department by 30% and the installation of the Monet Program that saved Amazon 2% on packaging by changing the printing of the shipping labels. Led one of the top producing AFE sections for volume during prime day 2019, that resulted in facilitating the building rank in the top 4 in the network for production. Key Contributions:

• Transformed an underperforming team into one of the top two teams out of 8 teams for multiple sort, pack and ship. I then was moved to singles pack as they were also underperforming and turned them into the top team out 4 shifts. This resulted in higher productivity and morale from both teams.

• Supervised an entire floor as the only Area Manager (the position calls for 2 Area Managers) with 107 direct reports and increased their productivity by 3% in the first month. This resulted in me mentoring and developing strong team leads to help with the supervision of the entire floor and 2 of those team leads applying for and getting accepted to the Amazon Area Manager Training Program. This also resulted in 4 employees becoming Training Ambassadors for different areas of the building.

• Partnered with HR to review personnel files to onboard new employees, promote employees and determine outcomes on disciplinary cases. This resulted in me mentoring 4 employees that were considered at risk of being terminated due to low productivity and disciplinary problems.

• Was the chairman of the employee FUN committee and planned 10 employee events to promote a fun work environment and I was the chairman for the diversity committee which promoted diversity in the workplace through hiring practices and celebrating different cultures. This resulted in 5 planned cultural diversity events, 4 employee appreciation barbeques, an employee on shift morale event and a building relaunch.

• Used Amazon Web Analytics to track employee's rates, plan for volume pushes and predict labor sharing so all departments would be staffed accordingly. The result of this was being able to see real time KPIs and act on them to improve productivity among the team and identify employees who required extra mentorship or training.

• Led weekly meetings to brief the general manager and stakeholders on the succusses and barriers that our department faced and led a Kaizen on the productivity of the smart pack machines. This resulted in better support and cooperation between the different teams and the support elements withing the building.

Conducted weekly inventory control audits to ensure the correct product was both displayed and available to the customer. Key Contributions:

• Reorganized the rug department to place rugs in the correct pods corresponding with their display models and organized them by size within the pods that lowered overstock by 25%, boosted sales in rugs by 10%. This resulted in a better selection for customers, a higher rate of customer satisfaction and less returns of product due to poor selection.

• Developed and maintained customer relationships that resulted in 15% increase in rug sales for the Mansfield location in December. This resulted in a contagious “can-do” attitude among the employees.

• Partnered with the warehouse manager to develop an SOP and instruction binder to train new employees on setup and maintenance of the rug department. This resulted in a cleaner and safer rug department on both the sales floor and in the warehouse, which reduced injuries for repetitively repositioning product within the warehouse.
