Co-ordinate between unit control desks (turbine and boiler) and other units and execute hands on unit start up, shutdown, unit electrical operations and other critical activities pertaining to unit.

Monitor the desk and field operation being carried and ensure that SOP are implemented and complied with.

Familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, Work instructions, Operation and control logics as well as the emergency operation procedures and any other related documents.

Monitor all parameters of the unit and enter periodic readings on log sheets. Summarize all activities/events that took place during his shift in the log book.

Identify abnormalities/process deviations early, instruct and guide desk engineers and field operations for corrective actions and escalate when required.

Co-ordinate with other depts. for facilitating and assistance in carrying out routine tests and checks. Maintain safe working conditions and good housekeeping.

Comply with safety rules and regulations. Be familiar with the fire equipment in his area.

Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out during the isolation of equipment for maintenance as per the approved Permit To Work procedure. Normalize the equipment after cancellation when instructed to do so.

Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to make sure that all equipment parameters are within limits. Report abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor/ SCE.

Perform the periodic protection tests under the supervision of SCE/Supervisor and maintain records. Perform equipment change over according to preset schedules.

Raise work requests or defect notes for faulty equipment and follow up for the defect rectification

Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.

Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.

Report deviations in Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.

GVK Power (Goindwal Sahib) Ltd installed 2x270 Mw Thermal Power Plant and transmits the power through 220 KV transmission line to grid for Punjab state only as per PPA.

Involved in BTG and its auxiliaries commissioning activities such as bearing inspection, rotor lifting, blade clearance checking, turbine lube oil flushing, oil injection test, governing valve opening closing, barring gear engage, TG rolling and synchronization.

Co-ordinate between both unit control desks (turbine and boiler) and other units and execute hands on -- unit start up, shutdown, unit electrical operations and other critical activities pertaining to unit.

Ensure all schedules of unit’s emergency equipment trial, changeover schedules, healthiness checks etc are carried out and results recorded.

ATT, Alkali boil out, EDTA cleaning, steam blowing, Pre boiler flushing, Turbine lube oil flushing, BFP lube oil flushing, BFP no load and load trial, LDO & HFO unloading, understanding the permissive and protections of individual equipments & systems, TG rolling and synchronization, CW system & RW system).

Bhushan power & steel ltd has set up 2.8 million ton per annum integrated steel plant of Orissa comprising 6 DRI kilns(500tpd each), Captive Power Plant (506 MW) 2coal washeries (1mtpa&3.5mtpa),CSP(compact strip process) plant, Blast Furnace(1008m3u.v.),coke oven plant (0.45mtpa), Sinter plant(105m3), Oxygen plant, 2 Steel melting Shops.
