Career Summary - Horizontal Drilling Experience & Skills

Supervised drilling of horizontal wells in Northeast TX, Louisiana & offshore California as rig consultant. Designed drilling programs for horizontal wells in Northeast TX, Louisiana & Mississippi. Lateral lengths ranged from 5000’-10,000’ for gas & oil wells w/ temperatures ranging between 200 F - 385 F.

Worked as engineer on supervising drilling, workover, completion and P&A operations in the field. Applied field experience to preparing programs and supervising drilling, workover and P&A operations, being able to better relate to field personnel and operations due to having worked on the rigs.

Lateral well experience includes Haynesville & hot hole deep Haynesville wells, Cotton Valley, James Lime, Eagleford and Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS) formations w/ significant reduction in days drilling in each area. Vertical well experience includes shallow and deep gas & oil wells in Permian Basin, Panhandle of TX, Northeast TX, South TX, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana & offshore California.

Experienced working w/ small independent operators pioneering and developing drilling programs that continued to increase in efficiency and reduction of costs, especially in areas of steering wells, drilling with managed pressure drilling equipment, and managing mud & solids control operations. Strong well control background in working w/ gas wells, saltwater intrusion, oil wells with pressure in both porous formations & shales. Very strong communication & team building skills to help geology, drilling, production, land, regulatory, accounting and procurement departments to work together more efficiently as well as with mud, directional, solids control & rig field personnel. Efforts helped reduce drilling Horizontal TMS wells from 45-60 days to 28-30 days, Horizontal Haynesville wells form 32-35 days to 23 days, Cotton valley wells from 45-50 days to 32 days & EagleFord wells from 25-30 days to 13 days. Work History

Senior Drilling Engineer – Goodrich Petroleum (Nov 2006 - April 2012 and March 2013 – Present)

Designed & prepared AFE & drilling well programs for the Haynesville, Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS), Deep Haynesville, Cotton Valley & EagleFord formations in Mississippi, Louisiana

& Northeast TX & South TX.

Supervised drilling operations working closely with Sr VP of Drilling, regulatory, geologists, geo-steerers & rig personnel to continue to efficiently drill and improve efficiency while working safely.

Worked with Sr VP of Drilling, Geologists, Consultants & Field Drilling, Mud and Directional Superintendents to maximize efficiency in areas of directional drilling (managing Geo-Steering between Geology & field personnel), mud engineering, solids control & rig supervision. Reviewed operations w/ our team of Field Superintendents to continuously improve & re-design drilling programs, directional programs, mud programs & solids control procedures to increase efficiency in drilling the TMS and Haynesville formations. Results included increased drilling rates, increased solids control efficiency (decreased amount of solids being sent to disposal) and increased diesel recovery.

Worked on staying location w/ consultants, geologist & geo-steerers to help identify most efficient zones to drill w/in lateral target windows while also helping to optimize drilling operations for 10,000’ lateral length Haynesville gas wells.

Helped coordinate daily AFE costs with accounting to track estimated and actual drilling costs more efficiently. Re-designed AFE spread sheets to coincide with computer reporting system and accounting codes and corrected balancing errors in spreadsheets. Handled and approved invoices for drilling operations. Helped solve audit inquiries. Michael A. Franko
