Winn-Dixie, Long Beach — Customer Service Associate
I first started at Winn-Dixie in the year 2007 till the year 2014. There I started off as a cashier. My job went from checking customers and communicating with them. Asking if they had a rewards card and if they found everything alright. As a cashier, I also helped make sure all the registers were cleaned and well stocked with Winn-Dixie grocery bags. Putting away any items that need to be put back on the self. Check dates on the candy as well as restock the candies on each register. I also watched the self-checkouts as well which was later put under the title as Customer Service Associate.
While watching the self-checkouts, I make sure the customers scan each item and place them in the bag. I also make sure that the self-checkout machine doesn’t mess up on the customer. As well as check any items that the self-checkout prompts me too. I also check any items to see if they’ve been scanned or not if the machine prompts me to as well.
Upon my return to Winn-Dixie in 2015, I basically did everything I did before. This time after a while I was brought into the bakery still under customer service associate. There I stayed for a while and had to either open or close the bakery. When opening the bakery, I had to bake the donuts, score, and proof the bread before putting it in the oven to bake. Check dates and pull them for the closer to shrink and do any markdowns. Fill the floor and case with anything that can be put out for the day. I would even have to bag the bread once it was cooled down after being baked.
When closing the bakery, I pretty much bake cookies or pies whichever is needed that day. I also have to fill the floor to make sure it’s filled for the next day as well. Do the shrinks and markdowns if they weren’t done in the morning. Wash any dishes as well as cleaning the department. Making sure the trash is put out and the shrink from the previous day gets put in the back cooler for the food bank.
Not only did I help out in the bakery, but I also helped out in the deli. There I mainly stayed as they needed me more. In the deli, before I was mainly a closer, I would help out as a mid-shift. I would make sure that the salads are put out or put aside to be shrunk if they are out of date. I would also check dates for the meat and cheese case as well as the cases in front of the deli. I would even make sure everything is cleaned to where the closer doesn’t have to do much at all. I also help slice meat and cheese, as well as help, get food from the hotline for the customer. I would also help fry chicken, chicken tenders, catfish or anything that a customer would like that isn’t on the hotline.
As a closer to the deli, I pretty much do the same thing as I would in the bakery. Do shrinks and any markdowns that are needed to be done with the expectation of restocking any items. I would make sure that any dishes are cleaned, and the floor is cleaned as well. As an employee who helps in the bakery and works mainly in the deli, I also ask any customers if they need any help. I was later removed from the deli to work mainly in the bakery up until my surgery in October. I currently work back upfront working at the self-checkout and sometimes checking people out at the registers.
On March 13th, 2020 I finally left Winn-Dixie for personal and Covid-19. Due to the fact I have a medical condition and so does my mom. Since I’m no longer with Winn-Dixie, I’m homeschooling my 10-year-old nephew and 9-year-old niece.

Little Caesars, Long Beach — Crew Member
While I worked for Little Caesars when opening I helped make the pizza dough. I would also help shape the dough into a crust. I would also make sure the prep station is ready with the cheese and toppings for the pizza as well. Along with making sure each container gets filled. Before opening, I make sure we have a lot of pizzas that are made to be ready to be put into the pizza oven. As well as stocking up on pizza sauce and cookies as well as dip sauces upfront. Restock the drinks and making sure the floor and windows are clean.
At Little Caesar’s, I would also mainly run the registers when not needed in the kitchen. I would also wash dishes that are in the sink when there are no customers. As well as going outside to shake the board to get customers to come in. When getting ready to close when I do help close. I make sure everything is put away for the next day.

Texaco, Long Beach — Cashier
Opening.
When opening Texaco, I make sure that the coffee is made for the morning people. The drinks are well stocked, and the drinking fountain is full of ice. Make sure that anything that needs ice in it has ice as well.
Closing.
When closing Texaco, I make sure that the floors are swept and mopped. I even make sure that the bathroom gets cleaned as well. That anything that had ice in it gets dumped
Along with that I also must do the following.
IF any vendors show up to make sure that we got the exact items on the list before the vendors leave.
Check IDs to anyone who appears to be under the age of 21 and or if I’m not sure.
Turn on the pump for anyone who has paid for gas.
