Volunteered as a crisis counselor for a local, non-profit rape crisis center [Sexual Assault Response and Awareness (SARA, Inc.)], from February 2003 to October 2016. During my tenure there I provided counseling to clients in crisis via telephone; while in the emergency department during forensic exams; and while reporting the incident to local authorities. I also accompanied clients to court; provided victim/legal advocacy; conducted community outreach by giving presentations to increase awareness and promote victim services. Providing pro bono services including crisis response, psychotherapy, victim/legal advocacy, and related services, is part of my professional practices. Work-life balance is found through spending time with my family, horseback riding, fishing, reading, and needlework.
