Data Analysis for Construction of Mega Distribution Center. Organization planned to invest $ 15 million to set up automated the distribution center. As a part of supply chain excellence team, I was part of collecting and analyzing the transactional data from 40 warehouses. Data capturing and improving the methodology to improve the data collection quality. I standardize the report formats, collected the data, removed the outliers, conducted quantitative analysis and started weekly, monthly reports in the form of Dash boards to the senior managements.
Transportation Planning: Sea Freight contract negotiation, managing daily operations of DCs to reexport daily 80 FEUs with KPI of 3 days from receipt to dispatch.
Implemented Oracle WMS in distribution centers: Prepared BRD and FRD, AS-IS & To- Be Process flow, Process review, facilitated training to warehouse employees as super users. Prepared budget & Initiated change in the physical layout of receiving, dispatch and storage location to align with the Oracle WMS process requirement. Initiated smooth transition of capturing warehouse transaction on ORWMS’s hand held terminals from paper based operations.
ERP solution: Implemented TOREX ERP software’s customer order replenishment and inventory management module with expiry date management for frozen food distribution division. Collaborated with TOREX’s functional consultants, internal IT department, finance department and warehouse team to map physical business process. Implemented Web based, In-house Supply chain portal in 4 distribution centers. Increased the data accuracy from 80% to 98% and ensured all transactions are captured in the portal.
Voice Picking: Core team member of supply chain excellence team to implemented Put to light (Oracle) and pick by voice – Voxware technology in distribution centers across 10 countries. Gathered business requirements from business owners, collaborated with Oracle and internal IT team, prepared business requirement document, conducted user acceptance tests, conducted pilot study, trained users and rolled out the solution in phased manner. This helped to improve the productivity by 12% and inventory accuracy to 99% from 90%.
Best Practice - Lean warehouse management. Improved open carton distribution activity by 11%. Implemented lean management principle in 4 warehouses to identify the waste and continuously improve manpower merchandise distribution productivity from 1180 pieces/hour to 1310 pieces/hour.
Continuous Improvement. Led a supplier performance evaluation initiative for the ‘Shoemart’ retail operation in collaboration with buyers, finance mangers and the warehouse team. Substantially improved supplier quality, leading to a 20% reduction in stock receiving time. Implemented standards for data collection, communicated analysis to stakeholders, conducted review meetings and set measurable targets leading to a successful handover and sustained performance.
Business Process Re-engineering. Simplified Import - Export invoicing process by analyzing the current requirement, implementing unique data attribute fields like Dimension, Weight, Material composition and customer specific attribute.
Sourcing Strategy. Developed a $2.1 million strategy for a 6 SKU line of private label frozen vegetables. Analyzed market trends, selected product line to be introduced, selected and developed global sourcing suppliers, selected packaging design, coordinated with food control authority to ensure compliance with regulation and standards.
Procurement of Warehouse Storage system. Led an initiative to change the layout of material storage zone of distribution center in Oracle WMS environment by installing automated storage/retrieval machine. This increased the throughput capacity by 57%. I brainstormed the idea, researched available technology by discussing with existing supplier base and attending national material handling exhibitions, prepared bids specifications, initiated RFP/RFI process and selected a supplier post negotiation process for capital investment of $ 5.5 million.
Centralization of Consumable Procurement. Saved procurement cost by $ 12,000 annually, by successfully integrating consumable procurement of 4 distribution centers by aligning procurement cycles (PO), negotiating better rates with suppliers, initiating resource sharing within departments.
