Job Summary:

Detailed duties and Responsibilities:

As Quality Improvement Coordinator

Coordinates with the education department regarding the development of nursing competencies and education.

Assists the Nursing Department in developing the nursing and hospital forms.

Assists in providing education in nurse competencies and evaluation.

Development and coordination of policies and procedure such as search for references, reviews and edit drafts. Ensures accuracy and completeness of policy and procedures, format and writing. Ensures that all written and dated policies and procedures reflect the current professional knowledge and principles of each service area, department and function.

Committee’s coordination, monitoring of their performance, achievements and analyzing their reports.

Accreditation coordination such as monitoring the compliance with Accreditation Canada Standards and coordinates activities of the different teams who are working through the self-assessment process.

Clinical quality review like medical record review of selected cases (criteria /indicators based list approved by the Medical Department) and finds out the medical necessity for admissions, severity of illness and discharge criteria to assure the appropriate, cost effective use of hospital resources, continued stays and services rendered. Follows up on Patient Safety related incidents & ensures the implementation of corrective action plans to prevent the reoccurrence of such events.

Performance improvement measurement focusing on the selection of measures according to hospital’s patient safety priority criteria and Qatar Council of Healthcare Professional’s Health Service Performance Agreement requirements. Evaluates systems, analyzes data, and provides functional guidance to the concerned departments, guidance in the development of improvement initiatives projects and continuous monitoring.

As Inpatient Ward Staff Nurse

Admit patients through elective or emergency case from clinic, emergency room, delivery room and patients for elective surgeries.

Identify patients using hospitals two identifiers such as patients name and date of birth.

Obtain patient health histories and physical examinations.

Assess patient and identify their risk for fall, pressure ulcer, pain, and patient educational needs

Prepare patient for surgical procedures such as taking vital signs, completing pre-operative checklist, skin preparation, pre-operative drug administration, completion of documents and patients file.

Carry out doctor’s order and properly transcribe it in applicable sheet.

Provide direct nursing care for general patients according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards.

Formulate and implement nursing care plan in collaboration with other health care team.

Assess and monitor patient for change in status and institute appropriate interventions. Communicate with the doctors through SBAR (situation, background, assessment, recommendation) and initiate necessary emergency interventions as necessary to stabilize patient according to the hospital protocol.

Act as a role model and practice professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Follow up and relay diagnostic and laboratory tests to the physician.

Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family.

Job Summary:

An experienced intensive care unit nurse who provides holistic care for patients with life threatening condition. Handle patients whose experiencing critical medical condition, accidents, trauma or organ failure.
