NEUROSCIENCE CLINICIAN: As a member of the Office of Outcomes Assessment team our mission is to develop strategies to assess health related outcomes of active duty Service members (SM) who have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), who are receiving care through the military health care system (MHS). The office also observes types of treatments being implemented, delivery points in the course of care, and the impacts on concussion recovery. Develop strategies to disseminate outcome information to the TBI clinical programs at DVBIC network sites and across the MHS. Plans and participates in the identification, collection, analyses and presentation of key clinical outcomes measures. Also, in collaboration with the DoD and VA health care system, supports and participates in the development, writing, creation and/or improvement in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) related documents, recommendations, tools and/or resources. These products will be utilized by providers, service members and/or family members as they relate in the care, treatment and effects of a TBI along the continuum of care and recovery. Provides clinical input and educational opportunities for DVBIC, the Services and the VA on issues related to TBI and are aimed at improving standards of care and education for TBI. As part of the Outcomes team I provided guidance to clinical informatics team at NICoE in creating a template for TBI providers to use in order to capture data to assess the outcomes of treatment, compliance, and care of TBI patients and programs. I also had a working relationship with the EHR implication teams to input patient assessment forms into ALHTA in attempting to main stream how data would be inputted into the system and extracted for analysis. We also advised teams working on the TSWIF forms that are used in the Patient Center Medical Homes EHR for documentation of medical care of service members and their families.

Primary Responsibilities: Prepare work plans, schedule and monitor project timelines, coordinate system wide metrics that strive to improve the efficacy of the care being provided throughout the clinical operations of the network. Identify and assist with the development of opportunities to collaborate with the DoD branches/VA/civilian partners. Monitor and assess qualitative measures of TBI care, clinical practice guideline usage, outcome measures. Review existing and ongoing studies regarding TBI care in civilian and military populations to ensure translation into clinical recommendations and practice. Ensure new products or tools do not conflict with existing protocols or guidance. Assist in the development, writing, creation and/ improvements in TBI related documents, recommendations, tools and/or resources. Collaborate with senior leadership, internal and external stakeholders and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure sufficient evidence and evaluation for a clinical recommendation, support tools, educational tools, or other requested products will meet customers need or intended population. Provide clinical input to DVBIC, the Services and the VA on improving standards of care, medical systems, TBI clinic development and TBI education across a wide network of organizations, clinical professionals, and key leadership.

Non - Primary Responsibilities: Participates in staff conferences, DVBIC meetings, organizational strategic planning sessions, professional meetings, seminars, and workshops to include military and VA programs as needed. Support the Division of Clinical Affairs and DVBIC senior leadership in a consultative and advisory role on HQ initiatives, site evaluations, and assist in formulating solutions to HQ and network related issues. Attend and participate in scholarly, academic and scientific presentations, meetings and/or provides work for publication in scientific related journals or other format.
