Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency

Authority

Only the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is authorized to issue a Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE) in Texas. Tests must be taken in person at a TEA-approved testing center under Texas Education Code §7.111 and Texas Administrative Code

§§89.41-47.

Official Certificates, Transcripts, and Verifications All record verifications and Certificate/Transcript purchases must be made using the automated system on the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE) Information page located at www.txchse.com. This process allows an individual to search for records on-line, verify authenticity and purchase a downloadable PDF of the certificate. TEA will no longer mail (via US Postal Service), email, or fax duplicate certificates/transcripts. Certificate of High School Equivalency Test Providers The State Board of Education currently contracts with Educational Testing Service (ETS) and GED Testing Service (GEDTS) to provide high school equivalency assessments. Texas issues a Certificate of High School Equivalency when an individual meets the minimum score requirements based on the assessment they choose to take. As of September 1, 2019, Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) no longer administers the TASC test in Texas. Certificates earned by passing the TASC test will remain valid.
