Description: Representation of Vehicle as plant (Dynamic system) in the form of a mathematical model in Matlab Simulink. The Engine management ECU is a part of this Vehicle to be tested is system under test interacts with this vehicle model. This is accomplished with the special hardware called LabCar which is a signal generator and measurement device, controlled by a special software environment. The LabCar takes care of the electrical emulation of sensors and actuators. The sensors (inputs to ECU) are controlled by the vehicle model and fed to the ECU and depending on the control algorithms inside the ECU, the actuators are controlled. These controlled outputs are measured by the LabCar and fed to the vehicle model as feedback so that the performance/behavior of the vehicle can be controlled.

HIL allows testing the embedded control units. Different tests are performed which check the status IO pins and the software and data inside the ECU. Project 2: Parameterization of vehicle model for customers. Operating System: Windows

Software: ETAS LabCar Integration platform

Description: The work involved parameterization of ETAS vehicle model for the Customer vehicle. The sensor & Actuator calibration Data from the software were inverted and implemented in the vehicle model. This kind of Data modelling is used to simulate special sensors and Actuators.

Project 3: Implementation of Automated ISO26262 Safety Test for Monitoring software. Operating System: Windows

Software: Tracetronics ECU-Test and ETAS Labcar Automation Description: The work involved design of Test Scripts of ISO26262 Monitoring safety test. The Monitoring software in Engine management ECU would check the functionality of safety components. During errors, the monitoring software would regulate the Torque in the Engine and activate the redundant sensor. The test was performed to check the functionality of monitoring software and its calibration Data.

Project 4: Hardware-in-Loop CAN Testing

Description: Vehicle network consists of different ECU’s connected on Control Area Network

(CAN). The aim of this test was to test the CAN functionality of Engine ECU. Here all the CAN messages was tested for minimum, maximum value, Checksum error, Data Length Code error. Project 5: Design of Hardware in Loop (HIL) System Operating System: Windows

Description: HIL will be used to simulate the Vehicle environment for automated system testing. Design of HIL for particular customer with cost effectiveness is an important factor. Here the Engine ECU was analyzed for number of Inputs and outputs with power rating. The HIL was designed by cascading two LabCars over Ethernet.

Project 6: Design of Wiring harness specification

Description: Wiring harness will be used to connect the Hardware-in-Loop to Engine Management ECU. The I/O, CAN signal are been routed from LabCar to ECU to simulate the vehicle environment. The work involved Design of wiring harness with fault simulation. Project 7: Hardware-in-Loop IO Testing

Description: The system under Test i.e. Engine ECU consists of digital, Analog, PWM, Signal generator signals. These test would check the functionality of the each pin with tolerance. Level1 tests was implemented to check the functionality of pins in valid equivalence band. Level2 tests were implemented to check the Boundary value with error detection. Level3 tests were implemented to check the functionality of error de-bounce and healing. Project 8: Hardware-in-Loop IO channel Test

Description: Hardware-in-Loop system is made of VME and PCI express IO cards. This IO cards has channels which generate and measure Analog, Digital IO, PWM, Signal generator signals. These test would check the functionality of each channel with accuracy and report the channel damages.

Language: Assembly language of ATMEL AT-Tiny 2313

Description: A timer control unit is an electronic control unit which sense dusk using LDR to switch ON lights. Lights are switched OFF after a definite time set by the user. Atmel Tiny 2313 has analog comparator which is used to sense dusk. Timer0 overflow interrupt used as timer to set the switch OFF time. It is used in street lights, Apartments, large offices. Project 2: “Fuel indicator using variable capacitor” Operating System: Windows

Description: Variable capacitance Fuel indicator is a mechanism to find fuel level in tank. 2 spherical tubes which are electrically isolated by fuel (an insulator) form a capacitor in tank. The Fuel level is sensed through this variable Capacitor. Variable capacitor is used to generate pulse of definite frequency which is fed to microcontroller. Microcontroller measures the frequency through external interrupt line and indications are made with low and high fuel levels. Hysteresis implemented reduces noise at threshold

Project 3: “Design of Automated test equipment for COT” Operating System: Windows

Software: LABVIEW 8.2

Description: Captain of Turret (COT) is a navy missile. COT has an electronic controller to Target enemy ship. COT is controlled by three Zilog Z80 CPU systems which consists of 16 PCB’s. These PCB’s has various analog circuits and Digital IC’s which control the firing of missiles. This 16 PCB’s was tested using labview Software for its specific functionality using national instruments hardware.
