Academic Projects

Capstone: An IoT Smart-Home Simulation using Cisco Packet Tracer (January 2020 - August 2020)

Accomplished a simulation of an entire IoT smart home using Cisco Packet Tracer to allow a homeowner to monitor the IoT activities remotely. I attained a self-healing network amongst the IoT devices by creating a fail-safe back-up using a microprocessor and hard wiring each IoT to the device. This also helped me to increase the efficiency of the network by 25%. By using layer 2 and layer 3 routing protocols I was able to add 10% more security to the IoT services compared to the basic environment. Sensors were used to detect motions to trigger actions like opening a garage door or switching a light bulb on. This helped me to achieve automation for the network where the user does not even need to use his phone to initiate any action.

Measuring Throughput of a Network Project (August 2018 - December 2018)

Using Python, I was able to measure the throughput of different nodes under different conditions. This gave me the gist of the network performance and the actual condition of the networks.

Network Time Protocol Project (January 2019 - May 2019)

To educate myself, Cisco packet Tracer and GNS3 was used to design the network topology. I simulated an NTP server environment to implement routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP to understand the efficiency of the links and create a back-up topology when one or more links fail. Through this project, I understood the working of NTP, and the protocols required to create an NTP server.

NIER Analysis Project (August 2017 - December 2017)

Using MATLAB, I developed a simulator to perform NIER analysis to gain information about the antenna patterns and power of the antennas and the effect it would have around the area where it would be placed.
