I am responsible for 35-40 patient per day. Patients range from infant to geriatric. My duty as a Physician Assistant entails the proper treatment, management and transfer of all Urgent Care patients.

I have diagnosed and managed medical urgencies and some emergencies, such as: Suturing of simple and complicated lacerations, Incision and drainage of abscesses and cysts, Acute diverticulitis, acute DVT, eye complaints including corneal abrasions and foreign bodies, stroke protocols, chest pain protocols, uncomplicated hypoglycemia, syncopal episodes, uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, hypertensive urgencies, uncomplicated hypotension, status- post slip and fall accidents and motor-vehicle accidents, sprains, strains, fractures, acute abdomens, acute nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, vertigo, sexually transmitted diseases and asthma exacerbations, amongst much more.

Some of my personal achievements that I have acquired are:

oEstablishing a stellar attending-P.A. relationship with all of my supervising physicians. I have learned from their ample years of experience and practice, and after a few months of working side by side with them, they have learned to trust my medical judgment and skills.

oAmongst establishing excellent attending-P.A. relationships I have also been able to establish great P.A.-patient relationships. Patients enjoy consultations with me as I thoroughly explain all medical results, management and reasoning. Majority of my patients have a great likelihood of being compliant with their treatment regimens.

oI have noticed that my ability to handle stress, pressure and remain calm and focused during particular circumstances has increased. I am able to multi-task and am more agile when seeing various patients.

I was accountable for a patient load of 40-45 patients per day. Patient ages range from pediatrics to geriatrics, with an equal ratio of insured to uninsured patients.

As a Physician Assistant, I worked alone without the direct supervision of my attending physician. My attending is accessible 24/7 via multiple methods of communications, however only comes into the office one time per week. I am responsible for 100% of the patient load daily.

My duties as a P.A. entail primarily urgent care as well as routine medical care.

Within the management and care of patients my responsibilities as a P.A. have included patient interviews and physical examinations, obtaining proper/cost effective laboratory and diagnostic testing, discussing and educating patients on their laboratory/ diagnostic testing results and then implying proper medical management to each individual patient. Also, advising and directing the patient to proper referrals.

I was responsible for pap-smears and gynecological screenings as well. I perform approximately 10-15 pap-smears and gynecological evaluations per day. Insertion and removal of Intrauterine devices for contraception.

I also performed physical examinations for immigration purposes and evaluations for home health therapy.

Here, I was responsible for a patient load of approximately 20-30 patients per day. My patients ranged from 18 years of age to over 80 years of age. My responsibilities included patient healthcare in the office setting and hospital setting as an Internal Medicine consultant. Hospitals included Jackson Memorial Hospital- Behavioral Treatment Unit and Psychiatric Crisis Unit, and West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital.

Both clinical and hospital settings entailed medical management of the aforementioned conditions. During my time here I learned a vast amount of medicine. Although many of the patients at JMH were difficult to treat secondary to their living condition and mental status conditions, this challenge taught me endless amounts of important factors in medicine ranging from medicine to rapport to actual diagnosis and management; which may seem so simple however in this particular setting was quite a challenge.

West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital consisted of Internal Medicine consultations and management of the above-mentioned conditions as well, however in the setting of post-operative (majority orthopedic) cases.
