Senior Design, Wearable COPD Stethoscope August 2019 – May 2020
• Documented and set requirements based on use cases developed of old stethoscope prototypes.
• Conducted and construed a research of microphone filtration and tuning based in their schematic and results
• Designed the system with an op amp & gain potentiometer to retrieve a better filtered signal to detect abnormality sounds.
• Evaluated the overall power flow of the system to avoid shortage and overvoltage in OrCAD Pspice.
• Executed Arduino board to power up the system with safe voltage and Raspberry Pi board to collect the signal data being generated in the system.
• Generated spectral thermal analysis in MATLAB to indicate the level of the waveform of the lung sounds.
• Designed schematic and a PCB layout of the prototype utilizing Eagle PCB CAD. Energy Delivery Systems, Microgrid Control January 2019 – May 2020
• Designed a grid synchronized three phase power converter connected to a weak microgrid using different methods of Phased Lock Loop (PLL) to balance the microgrid’s voltage and frequency from an injected voltage imbalance.
• Used the PSCAD tool to build control system architecture and compare different PLL approaches by looking at Real and Reactive power tracking.
• Per unit analysis was used to illustrate steady-state values from the D and Q frames to successfully show decoupling of positive and negative sequence components leading to effective measurement.
• Paper currently being reviewed for IEEE submission: https://bit.ly/31Cvu6D Mechatronics for Innovation, Conveyor Belt March 2020 – May 2020
• Operated Logix pro for PLC’s to create ladder logic functions or optical sensors such as forward, reverse, and stop.
• Implemented a stepper motor connected with Arduino Uno that able to operate under given conditions.
• Designed a 3D model of the conveyor belt by Inventor Autodesk. Power Quality, Voltage Sags and Short Interruptions January 2019 – May 2019
• Conducted research to mitigate the problem using different methods such as Uninterruptible power supplies and Fast transfer switches, Energy storage flywheels and motor-generator sets, and Ferro-resonant transformers. SOFTWARE
RT-Lab Simulator: Built three-phase power system analysis models to measure voltages and currents from different structures of balanced three-phase circuits.
LabView: Utilized an FPGA board to set the parameters of an induction machine in order to study and identify the slip characteristics of the machine, torque and speed.
PSCAD: Compared the performance of a single-phase rectifier with a three-phase rectifier in terms of total harmonics distortion (THD), DPF, and PF.
SimPower/Simulink: applied Voltage fed converter model in SimPower to measure the Real/Reactive power and compare the result in Simulink model synchronous dq-frame. EDUCATION
