Reservoir Engineer Specialist– Petroleum development of Oman (PDO) (Oct 2019-Aug 2020)

Preformed field development guideline and production strategy and pursuing growth projects for three fields followed by CR workshop and Hydrocarbon Maturation process (HCM). Identified the potential improvement, Infill drilling (flank, attic, and denser drilling), in well optimization, applying water injection, EOR (polymer and SAGD, CSS) and evaluate new techniques to improve field recovery factor.

Performed the simulation and RE activities of Nimr-E filed with over 30 years of production history and 380 wells with successful gain of Polymer injection pilot conducted Polymer injection studies for whole fields.

Rebuilt the simulation model of Amin heavy oil field to assure the model workflow, history matching, forecasting and identified the potential of production gain by optimizing the CSS Enhanced oil recovery, and IOR activities such as; hydraulic fracturing, work over and update the Recent FDP etc.

Conduced production forecast (based on Simulation, DCA and conduit for new wells) and analysed the production performance, Reserve replacement ratio (RRR), and Annual Review of Petroleum Resources (ARPR), reservoir performance review (RPRs), analysis Field Quality Index (FQI) and recovery benchmark, Performed analytical studies to estimate the EUR and calculated Top Quartile (TQ RF), development plan and identifies the opportunity to close the gap between current and expected RF, and provided portfolio report of future wells for three fields with more than 1100 wells in total.

Conducted integrated field review (IFR) to evaluate the production performance for individual wells/sector/highs and in field-scale. Carried out a quartile base well/ reservoir/ facility management (WRFM) activity list to improve the reservoir operation & management procedure and prepare related budgeting list such as; WRM optimization, integrated operation system and manage deferment below target, comply and implemented surveillance planning (static survey, tracer job, MPLT, build up survey, RSD and EMDSS), well testing, planned and executed Frac and workover, and deployed new technologies.

Contract-Based E&P Engineering consultant (Jan 2016–june2019) Performed reservoir engineering contracts for some Western Canadian projects as Follows: Project I : Performed CO2 flood screening on a waterflood pool as well as possible acquisition areas using analog pool performances and built a full field simulation model to match more than 60 years of production and pressure history for a complex matured- naturally fractured fields under water-alternarive-CO2 injection with more than 700 million barrels of Oil in Place.

Rebuilt the compositional simulation model and performed history match. Performed Reservoir Dynamic Performance Analysis and Operation Management, Forecasted the performance of above mentioned reservoir under different development plans and updated the annual reserve. Developed the full-field depletion plan to optimize asset performance in conjunction with G&G teams. Recommended the most efficient plan under technical and economic considerations which resulted in more than 10% increase in recovery factor. Wrote the report and presented the final result to client.

Evaluated the field performance and conducted the annual WRFM activity, Evaluated low gross production rate and performed proper action such as hydraulic fracturing in the tight formation, workover program to improve the potential of production wells, or solve the problems in the operation.

Led the implementation and surveillance of waterflood and CO2 injection and identified underperforming patterns using Streamline simulation, well testing (Pressure Transient analysis, PLT and tracer, Project II : Carried out reservoir engineering, data screening and analysis related to the technical, environmental, safety, and monitoring requirements for the safe deployment of capture, compression, transportation, injection, and geological sequestration of 18 million tons acid gas and anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) per year from large industrial sources

We helped the client to select the proper formation to meet the target. Performed consultation work to carry out production Engineering data screening and analysis where required and built a full field simulation model of a candidate formation for Acid and CO2 sequestration project. Calculated reservoir capacity, formation characterization and sensitivity analysis on hydrate formation, injection rate and pressure, and asphaltene precipitation.

Carried out reservoir engineering, data screening and analysis related to the technical, environmental, safety, and monitoring requirements for the safe deployment of capture, compression, transportation, injection, and geological sequestration of 18 million tons acid gas and anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) per year from large industrial sources. Project III: Conducted the Polymer flood evaluation from screening to pilot design for one of the heavy oil pools in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Assigned to Field Management and Information System (FMIS) project for an oil field with 120.00 bopd, 110 active wells.

Analysed the performance of medium and heavy oil reservoirs under SAGD and CSS process using STARS and Streamline simulations. Created a thermal asphaltene precipitation model to predict all the experimental data for a range of temperatures. Led the Fluid property modelling of three full PVT Dataset.

FMIS is an Integrated Production Optimization Project from the reservoir to the surface facilities including; Integrated Production Optimization Model- Review rock/fluid sampling and characterization, well testing and formation evaluation, and update the reservoir models, analysis and QC of existing wells, surface network data using different sources; Data Bank and OFM - built well models, analysed the well performances, and made recommendations on well potential.

Client: Zarubezhneft JV Tehran Energy Co. (TEC),

Performed and coordinated the technical guidance for the Field Development Planning, reservoir characterization (PVT modelling, Core analysis and well test interpretation) and definition of the best production strategy of Darquain Oil Field 8.1 Billion Barrel reserve) including; two tight carbonate formations (Ilam, Sarvak) and a highly fractured carbonate formation

(Fahlyian) which it has been already developed and naturally producing. Assisted and participated in peer review of field development study of Sepehr and Juair oil fields (Individual and integrated projects).

Led an integrated asset modeling (IAM) team to build an integrated and individual numerical model using Petrel RE/Eclipse 300 simulator, analogue studies and evaluated different IOR/EOR method. Sensitivity scenarios on peripheral water injection, pattern water / gas injection were done and finally the WAG injection scenario with 28 dual leg horizontal producers and 42 horizontal Injectors were designed as the most viable and feasible

scenario. Presented the full filed assessment, Petroleum Economics, Risk and Uncertainty analysis results and provided technical advice to management, client, shareholders and investors as required.

Provided technical support drilling, G&G, production technology and hydraulic fracturing for new wells and worked closely with operation team to merge and optimize the surface facility. Forecasted the performance of above-mentioned reservoirs and optimized the production strategy and recommended the most efficient plan under technical and economic considerations which results in an almost 44% recovery factor with miscible gas injection in Fahlyian formations and 28% percent RF with applying fracturing the producing wells and utilizing WAG injection in Ilam and sarvak

Lead Reservoir Engineer (Dec 2009 – Aug 2015) CCED E&P Company, Muscat, Oman Enhanced company’s performance and counted among the best four oil producer in the country. Supervised and maintained numerous reservoir-engineering functions, ensuring realisation of set objectives. Manage and oversee water injection implementation and management in 23 individual fault blocks in Farha field and gas recycling four carbonate formations in Buah offshore field. Planned and conducted subsurface data acquisition campaigns, such as fluid sampling, coring, well testing, pressure BU/FOT, and pressure gradient survey with an aim to meet and exceed organisational objectives. Improved productivity as well as maximise recovery through close collaboration with engineering, operations, production, process engineers, and project teams. Production monitoring, optimization, allocation and deferment analysis. Performed well modelling and network analysis, debottlenecking and optimise production. Served as a company representative in hydraulic fracturing study of CCED tight reservoirs in a joint study with Weatherford, afterwards implementing successfully in three wells. Key Achievements:

Built and maintained dynamic reservoir simulation black oil models and water flooding IAOM project (Integrated Asset Optimization Model) in 23 individual clastic reservoir fault blocks and four tight carbonate reservoir structures, from exploration to development, well and reservoir monitoring, review and surveillance, production optimization and infill drilling.

Completed water flooding pilot and gas recycling project in clastic and carbonate assets and implement it filed wide for more than 31 individual fault blocks

Identification of a pilot area for LSWAG injection from geological model and various well log interpretation for a Marginal Field Development project (Lower Al Bashir formation). This formation was an oil rim reservoir overlaying with a small gas cap and underlying with an aquifer. After a comprehensive modelling, risk and uncertainty analysis, multi segmented well with flow control device proposed and for improving the sweep efficiency, low salinity water injection alternative gas injection (LSWAG) was planned for field development. To convince the management and client and justify high investment, I wrote the result and presented it to the client and shareholders.

Collaborated with multi-disciplinary well and reservoir management team and customised DSS (Dynamic Surveillance System) using Avocet-OFM monitoring plots to optimize production of 280 wells in different field and evaluated the well and pattern production behaviour. Continually reviewing a process to identify the waste areas of process and proposed the solution for debottlenecking and production improvement

Senior Reservoir Engineer (Oct 2003 – Sep 2009) Namvaran Co. jv TEC, Iran Carried out reservoir simulation and history match and production forecast, pressure transient analysis, fluid property modelling, reservoir pressure evaluation, and wireline formation pressure in Nowruz/Soroush medium-heavy oil and South Pars giant offshore gas condensate fields, Naftsharh, Yadavaran large oil fields. Conducted classical reservoir engineering study including Core analysis, PVT study, wettability evaluation and asphaltene precipitation study for Jufair oil field. Key Achievements:

Coordinate with Asset Focal point on Project planning and management. Devised development plans for South Pars, the biggest offshore gas field (Phase12: two billion cubic feet equilibrium gas and a day). Built a full field compositional sector model of the field, incorporating all neighbouring fields. Various prediction scenarios and performed conceptual production facilities.

Integrated Hengam-Resalat-Foruzan offshore renovation and development study and completed individual and integrated study and modelling and WRFM activity for the Persian Gulf oil, under the "Mehr-e Mandegar" scheme.

Headed the basic reservoir study, including PVT analysis and modelling as well as well testing, material balance, type curve, decline curve analysis for Reshadat and Nowruz offshore oil Fields.

Successfully built the dynamic models and run reservoir development simulation scenarios (Miscible and immiscible EOR methods) to decide and choose the economical and optimum development plan for Yadavaran reservoir with 58 wells and 17 billion barrels of oil in place in a joint study between NIOC and Sinopec and Schlumberger.

Carried out a full field assessment and conceptual study of 8 formations/ fields to identify the best location for Gas Storage project including different depleted reservoir, water aquifer and salt cavern. Performed subsurface evaluation and also suitable operation technologies for the Gas Storage project in the selected depleted reservoir of Urtesha – Sarajeh. The project was to store 800 Million cubic feet gas in summer and producing in winter, site selection, risk and uncertainty analysis on storage capacity and injection pressure and defined injection well locations. Closely worked with EPC team to provide FEED engineering and performed the injection pilot for 3 wells.

Estimated the volume of hydrocarbons in place, recoverable reserves and prepared field depletion strategy and which involved in analysis and application of the rock and fluid properties, recovery mechanisms, well characteristics and uncertainties analysis of a giant Iranian gas field Reservoir Engineer (Jan 2001 – Sep 2003) National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Iran Worked with multi-disciplinary team to complete subsurface studies for gas storage project. This project started to evaluate and performed a conceptual study on 8 formations candidate and select the best one and then detailed development planning on the selected one. Identified additional pay, secondary reservoirs and EOR/GOR opportunities for several gas and oil fields. Carried out reservoir simulation and history match and production forecast, reservoir characterization, and reservoir simulation to find the best production strategy, proposed the infill drilling and other solution for production improvement of Cheshmeh-khosh oil field. Conducted classical reservoir engineering study including Core analysis, PVT study, well test analysis, wettability evaluation and asphaltene precipitation study for Jufair oil field. Assisted in development of deterministic/probabilistic approach of the reserves/resource information required for year-end financial disclosures, budget inputs, economic evaluation and corporate summary. Reviewed development plan of Zagros gas condensate fields with over 90 Trillion Cubic feet gas and rebuilt their simulation modelling as well as performed pressure transient analysis and rock and reservoir fluid analysis and formulated tender documentation and technical proposal for bidding upstream projects.

Key Achievements:

Integrated studies and full-field development plan (FFDP) using value assurance process (VAP) for four adjoining condensate reservoirs in Zagros (Homa, Shanul, Tabnaak, and Varavy) with almost 78 TCF gas in-place in total.

Completed full-field updating and development modelling of Reshadat Offshore oil field (Carbonate reservoir with retrograde condensate) and improved ultimate recovery by additional 8% applying artificial lifting, recompletion, hydraulic fracturing, infill drilling and gas recycling.

Completed development modelling & study full field of Kangan gas field, including Khufi and Nar Carbonate formations with over 26 TSF and expected 12% of additional recovery factor by Infill drilling and Gas recycling. Coordinated requirements for effective well/ reservoir/ facility management (WRFM) for one assigned field with 32 wells.

Completed full-field development study including integrated reservoir simulation, analytical evaluation, and production forecast of Cheshmeh Khosh Oil field (Carbonate reservoir with 26API sweet oil) with 3.2 Billion Barrel of oil in place. Improved ultimate recovery by additional 15% by applying infill drilling, miscible gas injection and improving the performance by workover/recompletion/artificial lift and revised gathering station performance and separation efficiency evaluation.

Field Reservoir Engineer (May 1997 – Sep 2001) National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Iran Led multiple wireline formation pressure test jobs, monitored production test operations, and conducted bottom hole surveys. Utilised material balance, type curve, decline curve analysis, stochastic, and deterministic methods to perform volumetric oil and gas in place and reserves estimation on wide range of oil and gas reservoirs. Carried out well test pressure transient analysis of 350 oil and gas wells. Supported in the commerciality study, simulation and technical analysis of Iranian oil and Gas fields in buyback projects between NIOC and Norsk Hydro. Key Achievements:
