Relief Charge Nurse- Managed a 10-bed intensive care unit. Supervised up to 8 other nurses. Managed emergent situations by prioritizing needs of the unit with available staffing. Oversaw neurosurgery residents and checked in with the attending physicians on call. Acted as a preceptor to new graduate nurses. Ensured proper staffing for the next shift. Notified House Supervisor of the unit’s needs.

Provided critical care to patients suffering from traumatic brain injuries, strokes, tumors, seizure disorders, spinal cord injuries, and terminal cancer. Performed as a relief charge nurse as needed. Directed the admission, discharge, and general flow of patients. Made appropriate assignments, delivered guidance on administering care to new patients or those with special needs and answering questions regarding protocol. Relief House Supervisor- Managed a 72- bed psychiatric hospital. Supervised up to 26 employees at a time. Managed different crises by following protocol. Ensured proper staffing for the next shift.

Recovered patients coming out of general anesthesia by maintaining an adequate airway, monitoring vital signs, giving medications as needed. Assessed patients after ECT treatment for adverse effects from anesthesia. Provided direct care to patients in crisis due to a mental disorder in a hospital setting. Collaborated with a variety of interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible care for patients. Educated the patients' family about mental disorder and ways to create a supportive environment for the patients to return to for long-term care and recovery. Responsible for maintaining a safe environment using monitoring devices and restraining techniques where deemed necessary. Offered social support for patients by creating and encouraging patients to take advantage of opportunities such as support groups, social activities and other therapeutic measures, as well as participating with patients where appropriate.
