Tier 1 Supplier Quality Engineer

I currently manage over 200+ suppliers for an Injection & Blow Molding Tier 1 automotive supplier to Ford, GM, FCA, and others. They are a diverse variety of suppliers, but not limited to paint, lighting, and components.

Duties include creating Supplier Score Card matrix, cost recovery, on site audits, continuous improvement activities, new product launch under the AIAG PPAP & IATF 16949 guidelines, various QC equipment testing such as ASTM Melt Flow, Gloss, Spectrophotometry, and Moisture Analysis.

Certifications and qualifications include: Six Sigma Green Belt, IATF core tools, certified auditor, and certified trainer. Participated and led IATF 16949 certification as well as GM BIQS.

Currently travel both domestic and international to achieve 0 defects and safe launch capabilities for supply base which includes Canada, Mexico, and all of the United States. 60% of job duties are travel/work from home, and 40% are in house.

Awarded GM Supplier of the Year 2018, plus site specific Supplier of the Year.

Quality Front Line Leader Weld & Wet Finsshes

I instituted and maintained all Quality functions for a support area to assembly. As the leader of Quality I had 3 direct reports (one on each shift) that help ensure compliance, perform audits, and act as liason between departments.

The support area that I am the voice of Quality for performs various metal stamping, metal forming, E coat and Powder Paint coat systems, and Film Thermoforming over metal.

Established 8D corrective action system for root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Corrective actions have already led to achieving First Pass Yeild targeted goals as well as reduction in scrap.

Lead multiple Safe Launch teams for new product intergration. Established Control Plan, Safety, and Standard Work Audit process for my team and myself.

Member of Safety Leadership Team for entire division. Collaberated on creating Standardized Safety Audit that all of division is currently using.

2012-2014 Revere Industries Clyde, OH

Quality Engineer

Provide support to all areas of manufacturing from FPA to production floor decision making within an Injection Molding plastics company.

Successfully engineered solutions to reduce and eliminate customer returns and reduce RMA from $250,000 to less than $5,000 through corrective action techniques for one program. Another program I successfully engineered a solution through poka yoke automation where previously rejects were daily/weekly. Current PPM for program is 0 after corrective action.

Current duties but not limited to: ISO/TS Internal Auditor, GAP meetings, cost reduction, daily production meetings, operator qualifying/training on new and existing products, gage design and R&R, CPK studies, producibility meetings, and PIQ SharePoint.

Currently Quality Engineering approx. 113 different parts (not including assemblies) for Clyde, Findlay, Marion, Monterrey, and Amana Whirlpool. I am also customer liaison to Jabil in Guadalajara Mexico which has led me to travel there and resolve quality issues.

Production Supervisor

Midnights Production Supervisor of Vinyl Extruded Products to approx. 40-60 associates in 3 different adjacent buildings.

Successfully led shift production team to the company’s first year without a recordable injury since its creation in 1973. Then was asked to move on to the other midnight shift with a new production team, and led them to a year without a recordable injury by installing safety ownership within each associate, holding daily meetings, and changing the culture of Safety at the floor level.

Duties included: Daily production management and schedule attainment, accurate reporting and active participating in day shift production meetings. Associate training and development in Safety, Quality, and Production. Implemented 5S Housekeeping and other Lean techniques. Provided continuous improvement and input by attending meetings on scheduled days off.

Quality Supervisor for Fortune 500 Automotive Supplier

Supervised 5 direct union quality associates, ensured and verified production quality data such as first piece/last piece and various other documentation. Traveled to Big 3 automotive makers production facilities and established in-vehicle assembly visual aids for company/associate use.

Successfully helped launched Mazda 6 pass through program using Continuous Improvement and other Lean techniques.

Studied Coloring of Plastics and Plastics Technologies which is 2 Associates Degrees of Applied Science and carried a B average while working full time 40+ hrs. a week on midnights.
