Role is expansive to include but is not limited to typical functions such as passing medications, ambulating or repositioning residents, assisting them with activities of daily living and feeding 25 to 30 residents daily. Clinical skills are required to perform straight catheterizations, tube feedings, simple and complex dressing changes, respiratory treatment administration and occasional placement of IV catheters. Knowledge of phlebotomy practices for obtaining blood for lab work is very helpful. Monitoring blood glucose, behaviors, change in cognition, changes in skin condition and documentation of skin breakdown is done daily. Staying in contact with family, coordinating care with physical therapy, ambulatory services and activities, as well as reporting any changes or resident concerns to the physician is expected.
